While Mukasey, 67, was talking, his speech began to slur and he then became rigid.
Two people grabbed him and laid him on the ground behind the podium, where he was given medical attention before he was rushed to George Washington Medical Center.
A spokesman for the Justice Department said Mukasey was breathing when he was transported to the hospital and was being evaluated in the hospital's emergency room. His condition was not immediately known.

Just saw this on the news...hope hes ok. Unfortunately it sounds like a stroke (just judging by the slurred speech...my family has a history of strokes so Ive witnessed several) so I hope it was a mild one and he recovers quickly.

This story was just on the morning news. They are saying he is awake and alert and able to speak. But they arnt really saying what the cause was.

While this man and his family have my sympathy in regards to his health, I am still hard pressed to call him The Attorney General of the U.S. The position is supposed to be filled by a person that protects the constitution, even from friends and political cronies.
