Big Oil and Auto Maker Hydrogen Spoil Conspiracy Revealed in Jack Nickolson 1978 Video

Apparently in 1978 there was a program on CBC Network that featured Jack Nicholson demonstrating a 1978 Chevy that was modified to run on hydrogen. They show the car being driven around and the media descending with their cameras, etc.

Then they cut to a discussion about how the technology works and how it can clean up the atmosphere, etc.

The remarkable thing about this video is that it is from 1978! This technology for American Automakers and Oil companies was a major threat that had to be delayed or even killed. Remember what they did to the electric cars GM recalled? They were all destroyed, even after California went to great expense to create charging stations.

This video demonstrates that there has been a conspiracy and I am accusing BIG OIL and THE AMERICAN AUTOMAKERS of colluding to suppress technology that could have had a major impact on the current climate crisis by allowing technology to move forward that would have resulted in a huge decrease in demand for OIL, Automakers would have had to retool. However, the bailouts that they sought back then when Chrysler went belly up.

I say that if they are going to get bailed out that they to allow these technologies to move forward; which means they need to release the patents they have been sitting on. They need to start manufacturing the cars that American Consumers want. They need to give up their loyalty to Big Oil.

    Good catch, jubal.

Absolutely true Jubal. It is so obvious they have and are hiding the technology. Smashing the electric car is an excellent example.

Hate to sound cynical but i am not surprised. maybe one day our government will one day decide to do the right thing and stop all the corruption from big oil, then again Washington is controlled by big oil!!

What a beast we have fed and given sanctuary. Now it may be too late to make it behave. It's bigger, stronger, meaner and hungrier than all of us.

What dicks, throw the auto and oil executives in jail because they've shorten end all of our lives with unnecessary pollution.

This is a great find. Can you help me out a little with the title?

Just because the technology was there , does not mean that it was an efficient and safe substitute. Hydogen is a Dangerous gas, Not easily produced or safely contained in a Vehicle that could be struck from any direction with sufficient force to cause it to explode.

1978 - Jimmy Carter years of big oil problems and Islamic turmoil. A Lot of innovative , yet impractical for public use, things came to market to get us off of the Oil bandwagon. But some people think that they need to drive a school bus down to get the paper and donuts every morning. .

Chysler even had a Turbine car.

It's not Oil or Car companies at fault, It is YOU, The greedy user of the products. Those companies don't work to please you!! They work to please the stockholders. The people that put their money where their mouth was, not complainers and whiners.

Somebody will always come along to defend big oil. LPgas companies have been using or burning Propane and butane gas in their company trucks and vehicles safely for over 40 years. Hydrogen will burn in regular piston engines with a little change to inject the Hydrogen or LPG into the intake manifold. As for Hydrogen being highly explose and dangerous, perhaps you dont realize when you are setting in your car you too are sitting on top of a big liquid bomb. Gasoline is highly volatile and explosive with a low ignition point. So no excuses for not using clean hydrogen gas. The big problem is trying to squeeze big bucks from the production of Hydrogen that can be produced from solar energy.

i dont think this technology was ready for every one at the time of this video, notice the 5 huge tanks of hydrogen in the trunk....

Daboz that is a bunch of crap and you know it. It is not our faults for being consumers of a monopoly.

They never allowed the technology to move forward by investing in it and incorporating it into their manufacturing process.

neocongo, did you read my little argument?

This was a viable technology, the hydro was being produced using solar energy. It was a working technology that didn't require that the engine be redesigned, it simply relied on a a modified carburetor to pump the gas into the engine instead of the gasoline vapor.

Yes the gas can be volatile, but the system they had put together was no more dangerous than gasoline. Gasoline can explode just as violently as hydrogen gas.

My grandfather worked for Big Oil, and he told me about many inventions that were either bought up by them or suppressed by them through lawsuits the small inventor could not begin to defend. They have actively worked to destroy anything that could possibly reduce the consumption of their product, namely gasoline.

The car companies could have easily changed their manufacturing to accomodate the new fuel and the modified tanks for storage of the new fuel. Hence I am accusing them of colluding to keep this from coming to the market.

Then they created this whole propaganda machine to make everybody believe that it wasn't viable and it was too dangerous. That was a big load of crap.

If you do a little research, you will find that there were hundreds upon of hundreds of inventions that were briefly on the market, all bought up by oil companies and auto makers, just after the 1972 oil crunch. This is certainly nothing new.

Any attempts at putting the oil companies and auto makers who rely on each other out of business have been simply bought up! Carborators that get 100 miles per gallon, clean fuel technology, you name it...

And I agree with daboz to a large degree... we are a nation of consumers and commercialism... we allow these things to happen. We want status quo, strong economies, and the almighty dollar above all else.

If we really wanted a particular technology for example, we would have them already. It is very much our fault too. We are dollar driven, short sighted, and stockholders above all else.

Amazing. That's my BIRTHyear!!!!! Imagine if it was actually not shut down? I'd have clean lungs!

    GREAT post Jubal.

The big question now is, will they finally not stand in the way of the technology moving forward, to help create. once and for all, a cleaner environment...while allowing us to wean ourselves from big oil...
