Researchers from the universities of Liverpool and Stirling in the UK found that a facial scar, preferably one that looks like it was inflicted in anger rather than the aftermath of chickenpox or acne, increases men's attractiveness to a woman for a short-term relationship.
But it also found that women will not go for long-term relationship with these men.
Researchers asked 220 people to look at pictures of men and women, some of which had been manipulated to have different scars.
The pictures of men with scars received better rating as compared to pictures of men without scars. However, in case of men, scars did not enhance women's attractiveness to men.
The researchers believe that scarring associated with violence may signal to a woman that the man has a risk-taking personality or above average masculinity, which might appeal to women for short term relationships.

Women should learn to not look to men for protection. Little girls should be taught the same way little boys are - to be independant and strong. Not dainty and pretty. That's why countries like Saudi Arabia exist, because society teaches women to be dainty and relyant on men. It's basically a form of social control of a populace.

I've got a wicked scar on the back of my arm from sharp metal edge that looks very much like it was caused by a knife but m facial scars have faded with age.
