Officials are now searching for the meteorite impact site south of Lloydminster, Alberta between Wainwright, Alberta and North Battleford, Saskatchewan. Some scientists thought it may have been part of a Soyuz Rocket re-entering the earth's atmosphere, or some other type of space junk burning up, but that has been ruled out.
The Leonid Meteor Shower was active at the time of the fireball; however, the fireball was most likely an asteroid ranging in size from a basketball to a small car entering the earth's atmosphere.
Reports of people searching from the meteorite are coming in as scientists, rock hunters and locals search the rural farm country for any trace of the dramatic fireball.

Here's a video of the meteor falling from a security camera.

Wow, I wonder how many people really get to see such a sight with their own eyes, who ever finds that thing is gonna be luckier than a lotto winner! Very cool!

I thought it was the tool box the astronauts lost yesterday.

Inspiring to see such energy being triggered simply by falling.

I am sad that I haven't seen any U.F.O. cover up theories yet.......how does NORAD or any of our defense systems not notice a meteor or space debris entering the atmosphere and coming in for a crash landing.....
Personally I hope it was a spaceship, carrying a little baby named Kal-El. Maybe he will even be found and cared for by a family named Mr. and Ms. Kent!

Wow. I wish I could have witnessed this with my own two eyes! A meteor falling with such power, not completley burning up in the atmosphere, is a rare event!
This is truely amazing! -

I wish I had the chance to have seen it live as it fell from the sky. I guess the video footage will have to do.

This was so amazing. I live in Richmond, VA and i was driving to pick up a pizza with my friend and I was looking into the sky while driving, it was like 9:22ish at night for us and i saw this green yellow ish light fall from the sky real fast and i started freaking out and got excited. i was not sure what it was and i got home and went to craigslist and facebook and myspace and blogged about it. i had people nation wide clamming to see it as well. this was crazy, i'm so glad i got to see ti!
