Scientists discover 21st century plague

Image...
Bacteria that can cause serious heart disease in humans are being spread by rat fleas, sparking concern that the infections could become a bigger problem in humans. Research published in the December issue of the Journal of Medical Microbiology suggests that brown rats, the biggest and most common rats in Europe, may now be carrying the bacteria.

So the story highlights a common truth, yes London does have a rat epidemic nothing new here.

I would have to think more along the lines of a movie called, 24 hours later, if the so called 21st century plague had any chance of mass contamination we would all have to be biten by each other, Scary thought? Or is this new plague capable of transition through the air as a sporn pathogen. Did not like the bit about rat fleas?
Look after your dogs and cats the rats are comming.

Historically, fleas have spread more plagues than anything, ..finding a way to keep them off pets that eliminate rats (dogs, cats, ferrets) does a lot towards slowing down the spread...so does eliminating breeding grounds in urban areas...

Where's the Pied Piper when we need him? If the trash epidemic was not so critical there would be fewer rats since less food. I heard the take-outs in Europe cause most of the street garbage since they are simply thrown onto huge piles of garbage and also containing remnants of food and aroma.

The black plague started out by rat fleas, and a funning thing they found was the fleas from these rats didn't bite people that chewed tobacco.

Look around you the next time you go outside chances are all you see is houses or buildings of some sort or another. the human population on this planet has far exceeded how much our earth can handle. there was once a day when you could go outside and all you saw was grass and trees and stars that is how is should be. Humans are some of the dirtiest species on the planet so it is not surprising to find that there is a disease out there that is more deadly than the plague what is surprising is how we still survive even with the filth we live in on a day to day basis.

Fleas on rats brought the black plague to Europe. Glad they are looking in the right place!

Well I heard that in hospitals you can find the most strange bacterias in the world , sometimes they cant kill them with antibiotics.
Remember wash your hands before you eat anything and also after you use the bathroom, youll be safe.
