Pucci Puppies - My Own Puppy House Golden Retriever)

HAZARD: POTENTIAL FOR CHOKING INJURIES!
W.A.T.C.H. OUT! Oral age children as young as 2 years old are encouraged to play with this plush, golden retriever puppy, sold with a dog house and accessories including a bone, cookie, chew toy and food bowl. These accessories are small parts that could easily be ingested by a child, presenting the potential for serious choking injuries.
I've never heard of Battat Toys, but a visit to their website reveals the most garish warning about lead paint safety recalls. "Thou dost protest too much?" CDX knows that choking on toys is no laughing matter. Hell, our entire childhood was ruined because some kid in the 70's choked on a Battlestar Galactica missile. But seriously - this is probably some off-brand toy made in a sweatshop in China. Parents - use common sense when buying kids toys. If it looks cheap, it probably is for a reason.
Be sure to check the list for yourself at the webpage. The are adding new details.

Every year I see a list like this, and every year I wonder why companies who produce these toys don't use just a little bit brains when it comes to testing their products.
Sure, lead-based paint is very dangerous and has crippling long-term effects, but it doesn't take much of a rocket surgeon to think, "hey, some kid might take a rubber bullet fired from one of these toy shotguns, which are about the size of an eight-year old's esophagus, put it in their mouths, and choke to death on them."
I understand the primary motivation of any company is to turn a profit, but when your talking about a quality control/safety issue that might add a quarter to fifty cents per unit price, it enters the realm of pure stupidity.
