“Oh really? Is that how the markets trending? I’m glad you’ve been keeping up with it, but if you wouldn’t mind pouring my coffee, I can be on my way.”
The truth is, as much as I’m hoping we somehow perform a little economic “coitus interuptus”, I think there are still things we can look forward too if we don’t manage to pull out. Maybe it’s just my hopeless optimism, but here are the top 5 things you can look forward to in an economic depression...

i am one who is really suffering from the current economic downturn. been unemployed for a couple of months now. and i must admit, this hits the nail on the head. all of those are definitely the biggest perks of this life that i'm living right now.
biggest downside: no job = no girlfriend

I agree with Dmitri, in the sense that if society collapses, we will be able to rebuild it, perhaps in a way that benefits us, and not politicians or rich people.

I dont think standing in soup lines like the Great Depression will be fun. Hunger is a terrible thing, esp for the elderly and the young. The jokes are funny but I hope and pray that is all they are. Life as we know it will be changed forever. And the "rebuilding" will take most of our lifetimes.

I've always looked forward to it because it's really damn interesting and kind of cool to see society crumble around you.

Meaghan - You've hit the nail on the head for me to!
Cashmere - Maybe you have advice to someone ("I have a "friend"...) looking to escape MA loans by pursuing a Phd? Backwards, perhaps, but what else can you do?!

Yes, weight loss will be a great side effect. We Americans are so darn fat, less money to buy the donuts might be the best thing to happen in long time.

It's nice to take a positive outlook on things... if that's what you would call this.
Well it's nice to laugh anyway.

5) No Bills
Oh, you will still be getting them, but you won’t be able to pay them so you don’t have to feel bad about it. You just ride things out until everything gets turned off. Once that happens just go home and collect on those sweet flapjacks.LMFAO!!!!!
