Gay Bible angers Christians

i guess you cant stop people from being stupid... they are gonna get some serious backlash for this... im not advocating the backlash, im just saying its gonna happen.

i think its wrong to alter any religious text just to suit your own needs...

This is ridiculous. There is a difference between translating the Bible and interpreting it. The Bible clearly states that it is the only, true Word and it is not something to be messed around with -- especially changing the meaning of it. I really hope the writers of this so-called "Gay Bible" aren't taking this seriously.

well it just shows you anyone can write a book and call it a bible. what does that say about religion in general?

Interpretations of the Bible are what have been causing wars on this planet for 200 plus years, hon. Translations are rife with interpretation - you interpret, usually by context, what each word is and how it fits into the wider meaning of the work.
An example - was Mary a virgin or simply a maiden? The interpretation of the Aramaic term used to describe Mary is, strictly speaking, "young woman". The interpretation of the word into Greek and later Latin has made her a virgin. Also, was Mary Magdalene a prostitute in your version? Anything that goes off KJV will likely have her portrayed as a harlot, even though the Greek texts make no mention of her profession.
Interpretation is everything. It gives us the meaning we yearn for in these works of old. I may not agree with the interpretation they've come up with, but its theirs to go by if they choose. KJV, NIV, RSE... they're all interpretations of one incomplete set of texts in a language that has been dead for centuries, and some are interpretations of interpretations...

If Thomas Jefferson can put out his own version of the bible after taking out all supernatural references (which is still in print), I think the Gay Community has just as much right to do the same.

I think the gay Bible is an awesome idea and I may actually go to church if one was read there, just to see it.

Anyone who believes the current versionS (yes, plural) of the Bible are "God's word" and haven't been rewritten a million times is fooling him/herself. The Bible was written and rewritten by man. It's being rewritten again by man. If you're going to follow it, you're going to have to accept that.

Ooo, that should be an interesting read. This will be the first bible that i'll willingly buy since childhood.

To each his own! Folks are creating new religions every day! Lord save me from your followers! Thankfully we have freedom FROM religion!

I've often said that gays should unite to form their own religion. After all, all religions are simply made up. It's not like some god wrote the bible. It was written by man, long after the events that were being written about supposedly occurred. So I say why not create a gay religion? After all, congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof... which would mean gays could get married in every single state, and not a goddamn thing could be done about it.

Why cant being gay be considered a religious faith?

Wouldn't people more or less leave you alone then? Why is it so much more intolerable than a difference in religion anyway?

ok i down with rainbow, and i think anybody should be withe the person that they love no matter their gender/race.

but....yeah this is to much. i have a serious problem with this, and i dont even follow the bible.

i don't see the point to this. even if the bible were the root of all intolerance against gays, simply rewriting it wouldn't solve a single one of their problems.

OK, ummm, sure, why not? That's not comparing apples to oranges which I think is the nature of the problem in the first place.

I have no dog in this race, so I have no opinion on gay marriage, but they lose major points for below-the-belt-unoriginal-and-completely-unrelated marketing.

If you can't legitimately explain your cause and gain society's sympathy and understanding, then why do you think you should just start pulling things out of your ass and stealing other marketing and symbolism? Basically in Jehovah Unmasked demonstrates with the King James Version that Jehovah is Satan.

So all of you who are up in arms about the Gay bible should get a life already. There is so much distortion around the bible that it is a coffin ready to be buried. One day Christianity will be studied as an old religion that people used to follow. In fact, there will be one day that civilization will turn its back on all religions entirely and embrace reality. That day will truly be heaven on earth.
