This De Beers commercial from 1999 is my favourite (authough I live in the UK (and we spell jewelry differently as "jewellery") the voiceover is different to this one).

Ahhhh. I was just thinking about this last week and then you make a video! Pah! What are the chances. I'd much prefer a short break full of warm fluffy memories than a piece of jewellery for Christmas though.

This reminds me of those commercials where the husband character will be doing something thoughtful for his wife...but then the announcer says something along the lines of, "But wait! You're a man! You don't do such things. You should buy [insert gift item here] to express your feelings instead!"
That's because men can only do manly things and buying something expensive is the only way to express emotion or gratitude. Obviously.
