That was so funny. You're right, you'd have to be deranged to have actually done this. Great concept, though.

to claim that this is ground breaking and original ("we were doing this before it was cool") sounds not only pompous but isn't true at all. Jim McBride did this with more finesse and believability in 1967 with "David HOlzman's Diary" (see above). Anyone claiming to be original now needs to do their research. As someone who has joked with her long distance boyfriend about recording our video conversations and posting them, the idea seems pretty cool, but it is by no means original.

Yeah, I've seen David Holzman's Diary a few times. As a hint for people in the know, the 15framespersecond YouTube page lists it as a favorite film. I got a grant in college to study these kinds of films. I was talking specifically about lonelygirl15, and I was making a joke about doing it "before it was cool." It has never been cool.

The role of relationships are definitely changing between two people these days. Whether it was fiction or not, I appreciate the experiment and the somewhat authenticity of it. Would like to see more approaches about a subject that we all deal with from time to time.

"...so we were doing it before it was cool."
(why did he say this?)
What a strange mess of reality and fiction. Does he realize that his 'fiction' is totally true. He's obviously got real relationship issues and internet obsessions. He's pretending to have them in order to get internet attention and in order to cope with his real girl issues. It goes in circles. A strange mess of ideas to make a real documentary about his fake blog of a real relationship that turned out be fake but was based on truth... - 1 year ago

Well, I only made this documentary because Current TV commissioned it. And you're about six years late on your armchair psychology. I'd recommend watching The Epic Tale of Kalesius and Clotho, which I made in 2002, if you want to see something really messy and revealing.

Guy obsesses over girl but can't win over girl, so he hires said girl as actress to play his fictional girlfriend who dumps him. That is some bold self-deprecation, and a wildly intelligent concept that flips the script of perception (wacky phrase, but I'm going with it) on the viewer. Top form material.

ROTFLMAO
Great humor. I find that it is has become increasingly harder for me to laugh these days.
I have been depressed ever since my real life cat was the one that was photographed with a sniper rifle shooting out our second floor window at helpless dogs.

The line between fact and fiction gets really blurry when it comes to blogging. It seems like dramatizing real life to gain viewership is practically encouraged. I think its very funny that you turned it around on itself. Initially my reaction was the same as it is for any of the attention hungry whiners exhibiting their innermost drama for all the web to see; irritation. As the concept and rouse was revealed, I found the whole thing pretty provocative, in a good way.
