Six years ago, Jeff McCaffrey was a college freshman at the Air Force Academy, living out his passion for football, academia and service to his country. His first trip away from school was tragically his last, when a near fatal car accident left him badly injured, bleeding from the head with no feeling in his legs. Four months in and out of hospitals and a temporary home in Nebraska later, McCaffrey realized a new dream. His game: regenerative medicine, the playing field: Capitol Hill. Thrust into Missouri’s stem cell debate, he seized the opportunity to educate and communicate the possibilities of life saving cures with thousands. He is currently in his first year at the University of Missouri Kansas City’s School of Law, fighting daily in hope that he and millions of others might one day walk again.
