ORLANDO, Florida (CNN) -- Investigators said Friday that they think remains found near a home where Caylee Anthony lived with her grandparents are those of the missing toddler.
Caylee Anthony, 3, has been missing since June in a case that has received national attention.

But, they added, police and prosecutors are waiting until DNA and other tests are completed before making a positive identification.

Orange County, Florida, sheriff's spokesman Carlos Padilla gave three reasons for the belief the body is Caylee's:

• No other children have been reported missing in the area.

• The remains are consistent with a child of Caylee's age.

• They were found in close proximity to the home of Caylee's grandparents.

Caylee Anthony was 2 when she disappeared in June. Her mother, Casey Anthony, 22, didn't report her missing for a month and is charged with murder.

The first word that the corpse found Thursday had been tentatively identified as Caylee's came as her mother's attorneys sought a court order allowing them to observe the autopsy and conduct their own forensic tests.

Lawyer Linda Kenney Baden said in court that investigators told the defense team they "were proceeding as if this were little Caylee Anthony."

Strands of hair found with the remains, discovered Thursday a half-mile from the home of Caylee's grandparents, are the same color as the girl's, the lawyer said. The age and measurements also were a match for Caylee, Baden added.

Casey Anthony, 22, was charged in October with killing her daughter, but her lawyers insist that she is innocent.

After watching this mini series unfold the past five months, I have come to some conclusions of my own. They may be wrong, but, I don't think so. One is that the Grandparents have always known Caylee was dead, at least since july 16th. Having known a liar or two in my life, the grand parents stink of guilt. I will continue my assumptions on the posts.

    • When your child commits such an atrocious act of violence towards their own child, as a parent you don't want to admit they really did it and you keep making excuses for them. It is hard to acept the reality of the harshness of life and the pain it can cause you. I believe each soul is sent to this earth for a reason. Maybe this precious baby's purpose was to make all of us as parents realize what a treasure our own children are and not take them for granted. Little Kaylee has touched thousands of lives and hearts in her short lifetime. Her story has made each one of us take a second look at our own children and encouraged us to make sure they know how much they are loved. Who could leave a more lasting legacy than that? May the person of this crime live in torment now and forever after by their guilty concious.

    • When l hold my grandchild, l'm in complete awe in the godliness that possesses her. l could not imagine anyone, let alone myself, doing anykind of harm to her. She struggles crawling accross the floor to me, and she does not stop until she lifts herself up by my pants and if not happy until l pick her up.

UNCONDITIONAL TRUST IS WHAT CHILDREN HAVE FOR THEIR PARENTS & GRANDPARENTS. HOW DARE WE VIOLATE THAT.

    • The whole situation is so sad, I can't imagine how people could harm a child, much less kill a child. And how could they live with themselves afterward? Such things are beyond my comprehension.

But yeah it happens. I may not ever understand it.

    • These "grandparents" have enabled their daughter her whole life. The grandmother is obviously a pathological liar as you can witness in interviews - her husband is always correcting her statements. I'm not blaming the death of Caley on them, but, what can you expect when you raise your children like that? Caley was the newest "pet" in that home - she would've have been screwed up too.

By the time cops had showed up she had laundered a pair of pants which had been in the trunk. Why? Your freaking out that your daughter might have killed your grand daughter, ......and then you stop and laundry her pants which smell of dead body?Fishy don't you think? I purpose that after the call when the Grandfather found out about the call, he went into damage control. That is when he told his wife some story how Caylee had died, and how he had helped Casey get rid of the body. So Grandmom, covers for sleazy hubby and washes the pants, and changes her story by the time the cops got there. Then they both go into full cover up mode. Making those silly shirts ,talking to the media, putting on a big show, trying to keep their own asses out of JAIL. And to spare their EVIL spawn the death penalty. To me, they both appeared to be lying from the beginning.

    • These Granparents have changed their story more times than their daughter. I will not be at all surprised to see them indicted as well as their son Lee. I do have empathy, but only towards Caley. Let them all go under if the evidence shows proof.
