Researchers who compiled the county-by-county look at what natural disasters kill Americans said they hope their study will help emergency preparedness officials plan better.

Do you think people will stop living in the places most effected by natural disasters? What do you think?

I don't believe people will stop living in places most effected by natural disasters. For years they have said California will fall off America by earthquakes and nobody has moved because of that.

You live where you feel safe and liked. The anomily of weather will not change that. There are dangers everywhere in this country as this past year has exposed.

I don't think people look at this type of thing until after they've decided where they will live.

If your lucky enough to live through a natural disaster, you will probably move ASAP.

I don't mind blizzards and forest fires, but I'm surprised that Colorado has such a high rate of deaths due to natural disasters. They must have included car accidents caused by Texans in snow storms in their calculations.

First the research analysts wanted Doppler radar now they want to use a map chart to determine where disasters occur. If they were riding in my vehicle I would have dropped them off at the nearest rest stop and told em - Good luck with that because there is no where to run , no where to hide.

I thought floods and tornadoes were severe weather? This chart divides the category. I'd be interested in knowing what gets bundled into the "severe weather" category.

What the story doesn't tell you is because of lower populationship the number dying will be disproportionately higher. If ten die in the southwest because of wildfires the percentage would be lower than the one who dies in Montana because of a lighting strike. There's only going to be about 1/25th of the population.
