What is your musical-visual IQ?

Associative Musical Visual Intelligence (or "amvi" for short) is a type of intelligence that has been difficult for people to lock down. According to some research, creative people can hear across senses - they hear hints of a shape in a sound and some can taste in colour. In extreme cases this is a condition called synaesthesia, but the creator of this test believes that creative people experience these effects when they try and see and experience things in a new way.

This is a logic test that attempts to measure your ability to correlate musical phrases with abstract shapes and symbols. You don't need any musical training to do the test, so give it a go and tell us your scores!

And to think that music could be eliminated from our education system here in America...

95%, slackers! that was fun, i have never done a puzzle like that. i wonder what it really means, though. i guess i could actually read the material, instead of just playing the game.

I got 80%. But I dont know what the really means.

I figured out that each shape represented an instrument and a measure. So like two black squares on top of two red squares meant that two instruments were being played simultaneously for two measures. If an arrow was on top of the last black square then the pitch or tone of that instrument went up or down. Then I just tried to match the music to the movement of the shapes. Anyways, fun test :)

Yeah, this is nothing like synesthesia. The shapes were related to the change in pitch and the relationship between phrases, but they didn't express the moods of each phrase.

I got an 85%...some of them I really understood the visual matched with the picture, sometimes I didn't. I do a lot of art and music so I was hoping I didn't fail this test miserably!

LOL, I didn't understand this at all! Just under 50 %!

I don't see how I can put those sounds and images toghether, what makes one 'stick' to another?

On some of them, it looked like the image 'told' which way the volume was going, but thats it.

    Only got 60%

    Pitch discrimination: 50.7%

    Musical memory: 59.5%

    Contour discrimination: 53.0%

    Attention: 58.1%

    Musical/visual abstraction: 71.7%

I don't understand how I did the worst on pitch discrimination considering I've been playing some sort of instrument since 4th grade and I tend to be pretty close when I tune by ear and the fact that my attention is as high as it is when I feel like I can't concentrate on anything for more than 10 seconds is amazing.
