The water is being drawn from wells where special filters used to remove the arsenic have reached the end of their natural life but there is no money to replace them.

About the time Ford was making biomass methanol, a mechanical device[3] to strip the outer fibers of the hemp plant appeared on the market. These machines could turn hemp into paper and fabrics[4] quickly and cheaply. Hemp paper is superior to wood paper. The first two drafts of the U.S. constitution were written on hemp paper. The final draft is on animal skin. Hemp paper contains no dioxin, or other toxic residue, and a single acre of hemp can produce the same amount of paper as four acres of trees.[5] The trees take 20 years to harvest and hemp takes a single season. In warm climates hemp can be harvested two even three times a year. It also grows in bad soil and restores the nutrients.

My Political Science professor from way back had an obsession with arsenic in water and how the U.S. Government regulates the percentage of Arsenic in American's drinking water. She pointed this topic out numerous times during the course. She actually was really obsessed with Americans drinking water eventually making the whole class obsessed with drinking water....Now I see why. So this is a global problem that needs to be understood and addressed before it brings mass devastation to millions and millions across the world. Arsenic is not the type of thing you take lightly if millions of people are sipping it and bathing in it everyday, and I wish the governments see that.

I really feel for them, no one should have to drink poisioned water. When every life needing sip to be destroying something inside of you is frightening. Not to mention the harm it does to to the lymphatic system. And more.
Ever wonder why people poisoned wells to wipe out entire populations without much effort?

This is a big problem in Alaska too. Arsenic naturally found near volcanic regions, seeps into ground water supplies... Alaska has many regions that are above safe levels.

We've got arsenic in our own water. Ask anyone in a Mountain Top Removal zone. You can smell it in the air just walking into peoples houses.

People from all around the globe drink contaminated water, the majority of them in Africa, and it is so sad. Many don't realize this though. Especially in developed countries. Water is vital, maybe the UN can vote on the right to water yet the US would probably vote against tho.
