Then I thought, well, yeah, we're seen as bloodthirsty so much it's probably the politically correct thing to do to steer clear of this one. Equals the one place force could be used that the world probably wouldn't frown at. Or maybe they would? But it sure seems kind of wishy-washy to me. Makes me wonder if US policy is driving world opinion, or world opinion is driving US policy.

I think that even now it is important that we understand the importance of the feelings of others and how our actions towards them could effect their feelings of self of steam. I think we should go slowly with the pirates and try to work with them to more fully understand that there are other ways to live and work in the Brave New World that we are creating.

Is gunboat diplomacy, most recently and horrifically displayed by the mad warmongering Americans under that Hitleresque Bush madman, really the answer. I think not.

I think we should think "Diversity" and "muli-culturalism" and reason when dealing with these poor souls who live in the only country in the world with no government, therefore no support system to mediate their aggressive and hopeless world.

History is funny, but if POVERTY and DESPERATION are the true causes of the piracy not GREED, then perhaps the merchant vessels can create some sort of goodwill program and toss token donations of food and clothing overboard as they pass through the area rather that piss away billions on staffing and running military warships against motorized rowboats?

I've never been there, so I don't know, but I do know we need to start focusing on solving problems at the source, if not before they happen, because scenarios like this are painfully wasteful.
