As of January 1st, Time Warner Cable subscribers across the country will lose 19 Viacom channels including Nickelodeon, Comedy Central and MTV. After intense negotiations, Time Warner claims that Viacom is asking for unreasonable increase in carriage fees and can still make money through ad. revenue by putting their shows online. Viacom states that TWC can afford these fees, especially when they have such hit shows to offer. So no more Spongebob Squarepants for the kids, no more MTV reality shows for the teens, and no more Daily Show with Jon Stewart and Colbert Report for the 20s+.Happy new year, TWC subscribers!

Some of these channels I could care less about, but my daughter likes her morning cartoon! How am I to explain to her that not only can she not watch noggin but that she can't play her games online either! That's right, I spoke with a TWC rep and if u have TW internet service u will no longer get these shows online either! What the crap?

Fuck it, it's Viacom's fault. The owner has massive debt to pay off and is trying to increase the rate on TWC in double-digits supposedly.
The sympathy tickers and garbage are merely a way to attempt to convince viewers to rally behind Viacom.
I say let them lose it, Viacom will be hurt by this just as much as TWC.
If Viacom goes under who will replace our Non-Music Television Channels?

This disappoints me. I'll be cancelling my subscription to Bright House.
My son has a few cartoons he likes to watch on Noggin, which is one of the channels being removed. (Lil' Bill, Upside Down Show, etc.)
I'm not against him not watching these shows for awhile, but these channels being lost are the reason we subscribe.
Now to see how long Time Warner/Bright House remain in business when people start cancelling their subscriptions in large numbers.

I'm not the one complaining. I'm merely saying that you don't know what the hell you're talking about.
I watch shows online when I do watch series. I actually have comcast in my area.
You just fail to see that others may watch the traditional way, and that's the only way they can do so.
Get your head out your ass, realize that some people do live within their means, and be a little considerate instead of calling everyone greedy when you don't know their situation.

So people say go online. You can't do that with every show. Let's assume you live in a no-high speed are and you happen to have an iPhone that can use someone else's high speed in a neighboring town -- 30 to 40 miles away. Lets assume you drive a Ford car that gets 26mpg. You're going to be wasting 3 gallons of gas (at 1.35 a gallon that is $4.05), $1.99 PER SHOW on iTunes if you're buying it, and lets assume you just batch downloaded all the Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart every friday. Over one month, assuming they release 5 shows per week on schedule, you will spend $16.20 in gasoline, add 300 excessive miles per week to your commute (you could justify this by visiting family), and spend $79.60 per month. That's 98.80 per month. My DirecTV bill with 4 boxes, a tivo and local stations is $125 a month with taxes. Somehow your online only system is not cheaper than the subsidized, established cable or satellite networks.
And if you think that's far fetched, it is anything but. My mother ended up with an iPhone because she can't get cable tv or high speed at her home in Mississippi. She downloads iTunes songs and shows from her mothers house in memphis -- 30 miles away. She drives said 26mpg Ford and she's made special trips into town just so "she'd have something nice and cheap for myself."
Welcome to reality. In reality things aren't as easy as you make it seem.

Whatever, I make 30k a year, own a house that I bought last year. If you people all weren't so greedy, none of you criers would be in this mess. I am so sick of hearing about everyone's problems. You all fabricate all this BS. Just pay your bills, get a 2nd job, or cut back on the bull crap.

Want a cookie? My parents bought their second house in 26 years, they have no high speed and have to make trips into Memphis to download Mac OS updates and Windows updates, let alone iTunes. Your concept of "just get it online" works for about 20% of the country, for the rest of the rural nation it is not effective. Stop thinking you know it all.
I've owned my house for 3 years, I'm at a well below 6% rate, and guess what -- I make marginally more than you. That does not mean I don't understand how people get behind (wait till your HOA fines you for no apparent reason and your state refuses to help you fight them). Or a parent gets sick and you take care of them.
Your insensitivity to issues is really sickening.

Obviously, with a name like lubricant, this guy doesn't understand that some people use tv as something to escape to. This announcement may affect them, seeing as their favorite shows may be on one of those networks.
Some people may be focused a bit more on paying bills than buying a new computer. This is news to THEM.
By the way, grow up a little. No one but 13 year-old Gears of War players still use "noob".

While I'm not big on the whole watching TV thing (especially since Current was taken off my TV), people in my area really have no other cable choices besides TWC. We're completely dominated by them, and we'd have no choice but to switch to another form of TV reception to get these channels.

Forgive me but some of us actually have lives. We have families that need to be fed. Mortagages that need to be paid and other bills that are WAY more important than these stupid computers that you speak of. We just have the basics to get by and that makes us happy. No need to put others down to make yourself feel better. God bless you and your family.

That does not apply for Logo (the only true gay network), Nick or Noggin (the only real kids networks).
You're basically saying kids and gays don't matter. Last I checked they were two of the most targeted demographics.
This is more than newsworthy for more than a few reasons. The outcome could depict a lawsuit over monopolistic powers.
Plus what about people who don't live in high speed internet areas? What about them? Would you wait 50 minutes for a 30 minute show to load in your web browser and watch it on your 15 to 24" screen instead of the 40" flat panel in the living room?
You're being insensitive.

This really comes as no surprise. Anyone who subscribes to Time Warner Cable knows they have sub-par service. In some places like Los Angeles, if you live in an apartment with rules that prevent mounted satellites, you're stuck with this weak-sauced monopoly. It's the reason why I just decided to do without a television altogether. I won't miss any of those channels when I can just watch them on the internet using...you guessed it, Time Warner Cable internet service.

Thank goodness Comedy Central posts their shows www.comedycentral.com . I can't afford to pay more for TV. It will be sad to loose comedy central, but I am drawing a line in the sand, I can't afford more. I can barely afford what I am paying now. Enough is enough!
The Daily Show helped me get through the Bush years. John Stewart stating facts "out loud" was a relief. It warmed my soul. CNN and Fox refused to state facts “out loud” if they were contrary to the Bush administration’s goals. The Daily Show shamed cable news, by illustrating their complacency with George W.
If given a choice I would cancel cable news, except MSNBC. Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow speak for me. They state facts “out loud”, taking people to task for distorting facts. We need counter-spinners. John Stewart, Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow counter the spin of cable news.
