This Pod potrays a new view of pak.
Iam from India and i feel so much at home in karachi almost like bombay where city never sleeps.
I hope one day soon pak will eradicate all the terror elements which is causing bad name for many who hate them.

This leaves me with more questions than answers. In one part of Pakistan girls are being murdered because they've gone to school or been raped. In another part of Pakistan girls are, well, doing what we see in the video.

Which is most representative of the "real" Pakistan? How can a reasonably intelligent, well-educated, caring American like me understand the reality?

This does show another side of Pakistan we "over here" don't see... and which is the most representative of Pakistan like Scarabus states.
In reality I want to visit many places in the middle east for myself and experience the culture first-hand.

A great insight into the something I had no real knowledge of. Good job!

According to recent figures published by leading Asian drugs charity Nafas, there's been a huge increase in the amount of young Asian woman taking 'hard drugs' in the UK.

Nafas claims it's treating 20 to 25 women for heroin addiction a year in east London alone - a number that they think is 'only the tip of the iceberg.'

As an Indian born and raised in America but with strong cultural ties, I am so happy to see the youth of India and Pakistan enjoying music, nightlife and each other as they grow up in India and Pakistan....

Don't know what the letters in your icon mean, BFAM, but as calligraphy they're definitely lovely! :-)

What strikes me in thinking about the subcontinent is first the difficulty I as an American have in comprehending its complex variety of cultures. Gotta say that Forster's *Passage to India*, which I first read in 1963, still resonates. With the best will in the world, it's still discouragingly difficult to make contact, much less attain understanding, across cultural divides.

In economically depressed parts of India, it's understood and accepted that families will sell daughters into prostitution. At the same time, India is known for its prudery, with theaters being destroyed by crowds angered by even minor nudity or religious/political "transgressions." (Like the U.S., where Facebook has removed images of women nursing their babies, but where I've been solicited by streetwalkers in Mid-Manhattan every time I've visited New York.)

Regarding Pakistan I see a story one week where a young teenage girl is stoned to death for the "crime" of having been violently raped, completely against her will. And the next week I see a story where young people in Karachi are dancing the night away...revealing a lot more and indulging in a lot a more than Sharia law would condone. Again, same as the U.S. in principle (though killing a child for having been violently raped is relatively rare here).

P.S. Regardless of cultural or regional or religious derivation, I do love Indian cooking. I'm lucky enough to have a wonderful source of Indian cuisine right here in the big town/small city where I live. Check it out, and if you're in the area treat yourself to a wonderful dining experience:

P.S. For the record, this is a totally unsolicited recommendation. :-)

This is Karachi one of the largest cities in the world. It makes sense it has a youth culture so similar to others around the world...

Being from Pakistan myself i was very excited to watch this pod until that dude in the end ruined it with his epileptic dancing. Anywho, from what i have been told the underground club culture is thriving in Pakistan's major cities like Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi. I have not been back since i moved to the states back in early 90's, but a gay friend of mine told me back in 97 that he attended a few gay parties in Lahore with a vibrant underground dance culture but things are still hush hush and most clubs and parties are organized over the internet at undisclosed locations to a select few, but that was 12 years ago. I am happy to see the youth of my country enjoying themselves but the culture is in its infancy, much like the club culture in Iran. Pakistan had a club culture i am told by my parents, in the Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto era back in the 70's, but regime changes, muslim extremists and an uncertain political system has stunted the modernization of an otherwise progressive country. Karachi being the only seaport city in the Nation has always been more progressive but because of the internet and a global economy all the major cities of Pakistan are seeing a renaissance of modernization. Bare also in mind that Pakistan produces some of the best musical talents of the sub continet like: Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Nazia Hassan, Ali Azmat, Ali zafar, Atif Aslam to name a few.

It seems pretty interesting to watch and hear about these things. But being a karachite and plus a party animal for past 3 years, i can tell, its near to impossible to have parties in karachi openly. But we are working on it....:-)

well if this is real face of pk then may be i'm an alien. what was the purpose of this video anyway. first of all trans is not the only music to enjoy. but yep, may be its good to listen it while fornicating chicks and smoking joints. it does add to it.
I can say so many things here but i'm not here to judge anyone but one this for sure that this only represents .0001 % of elite brats of this country that is rather tragic.

After gone to some of these 'underground' parties in Karachi and lahore, i must say, Pakistan is still light years away in creating a true club culture seen in other asian countries such as mumbai, singapore, tokyo.

The problem lies in the fact, these parties are catered for the niche group of young people, who have too much disposable income and time on their hands. The social acceptance of such events is very taboo, unless you are rich, have influence. 99% of the country does not fall into this category.

Unfortunately due to travel restrictions for pakistani nationals to travel abroad and experience real nightlife, this is the only club culture the country is relegated to.

It's a good attempt, but, I do think the elitist attitude which is displayed some in the video very un-becoming. Club culture in the rest of the world, in particular, house music is about the music and being free, not exclusivity. As a DJ myself in the USA, I am glad to see progression, but the country has bigger problems to deal with first i.e. fundamentalism, terrorism, and equal rights for women before a discussion on clubbing in the country can truly be discussed.

It's up to young the people of Pakistan to stand up and speak out against the fundamentalism growing in the country (see Iran). Once a movement is created, then, real freedom of ideas, music, expression will come about.
