Dolphins use tools in bizarre new fishing technique

Image...
Scientists have discovered dolphins in Australia using tools to help them hunt for fish.

The dolphins use sea sponge to protect their noses as they rummage the ocean floor for food.

The Dolphins firstly find a piece of sponge that fits their noses, before swimming along the ocean floor for food. They use the sponge to protect their noses as they scatter the sand, once they've startled a fish they drop the sponge and catch the fish.

Interestingly, this new fishing technique seems to be only used by females. Only one case of males doing this has been recorded.

Why's this?

They're learning, I don't see the bizarre in this...

They've proven to be much like humans and they're just proving the way scientifics said humans evolved. They rape too and males hang out in gangs doing stuff "just for fun" even it has been proven they have sex for fun too and not for reproducing...

That's such a cool fact. Maybe it's just the females doing it because it's some kind of fashion.

Most lip sticks aren't waterproof so this could be their ingenious equivalent. Give it a few years and they'll have figured out they can wear seaweed skirts too. Clever dolphins.

Yeah, but they'll never become masters of their universe like we have-- you can't start fires under water.

Without that, they'll never accidentally refine metal ores into crude metals.

    We're safe!

Their brains are bigger than ours and it would seem that their females are smarter than ours, as well.

Not surprised, they're smart as hell. Good to know what they do nonetheless though.

Animals are much smarter than we will ever be able to understand nor recognize....if we pay more attention to these creatures we could probably learn more about ourselves....

Oh no! They're evolving to kill us! ack!

Maybe, the females are the only ones who use sponges to keep their pretty beaks free from scratch and scar

That's interesting because in human hunting and gathering cultures, most of the food gathering in terms of time and amount is done by females.

well they say dolphins and wahles are souls from the star system Siruis, sent here to allign the electromagnetc grid of the oceans, until humans evolve enough to look after it themselves, and also sent here to teach us to be more playful and teach us better fishing techniques.
