Charlotte Peters shows the winning lottery ticket her husband, Donald Peters, bought the day he suffered a fatal heart attack. After setting it aside during her grief, she checked the numbers and realized she'd won $10 million.
(ABC News)Peters bought two Connecticut Lottery tickets at a local 7-Eleven store on Nov. 1 as part of a 20-year tradition he shared with his wife Charlotte. Later that day, the 79-year-old retired hat factory worker suffered a fatal heart attack while working in his yard in Danbury.
On Friday, his widow cashed in one of the tickets: a $10 million winner which, in her grief over her husband's death, she had put aside and almost discarded before recently checking the numbers.
There is a little good luck left in the world.

Its nice to hear some good news thats AWESOME!
-
Good for her
-
Some good news! Its great that she'll be financially sound the rest of her days...its hard enough to lose a loved one let alone deal with financial burden of death and lost income. Im sure with this she'll be able to travel and spend some quality time with her remaining family.

With a widow's smile that big - are we sure she didn't scratch that ticket right away causing her husband's heart attack? Anyhow, her silver lining turned to gold as added comfort under such sad circumstances.

WOW, Shame that man could not share in his winnings after 20 yr s of buying lotto tickets.
I hope that her winning the lottery doesn't overshadow the grief of her dead husband, Although im sure he is well happy for her. -
That kicks ass!...and for the record, my girlfriend and I are both single and available depending on her new found friskiness!

How bittersweet. I bet that family would give every penny to have their loved one back again, but it just doesn't work that way. Money can't buy happiness, my thoughts are with that family.
