It's Curtains for Broadway Season

Image...
This January, fans of the Great White Way will be saying goodbye to more than a dozen productions running on Broadway, due to hard economic times combined with the post-holiday slump. Among the shows taking their final bows are "Spring Awakening," "Hairspray" (with Harvey Fierstein and Marissa Joan Winokur reprising their original roles!), August Wilson's last play "Gem of the Ocean," and the quirky surprise hit "[title of show]." It's also curtains for "Gypsy," the groovy "Boeing Boeing," and Mel Brook's smash hit "Young Frankenstein."

Anyone in the business can tell you that the closing dates of a show are a heady mix of elation, exhaustion, sadness, and surprises. The audiences swell with relatives and friends of the cast and crew, as well as the die-hard fans longing for one last look. So, if you have the chance, drop by and bid farewell to these productions. You never know what tricks they've left up their sleeves till now!
