New surveys show teen promiscuity and STDs running rampant

Image...
In a new federal survey, more than fifty percent of both male and female 15 to 19 year old teenagers admit to having engaged in oral sex.

Just think about that for a minute.

More American teenagers have practiced oral sex than have not.

These are kids who have not even reached their 20th birthday yet.

Does the wildness of the teens of America have any limits?

What is being taught to the teens of the United States that they would act this way?

It seems as though every week there is another study or report that shows why it is SUCH a good idea to stay pure until marriage.

A nation full of sexual immorality is a nation full of sexual disease.

A new study by the Health Department of New York City has found that 26 percent of all residents of New York City have herpes.

Keep in mind.....that is only one sexually transmitted disease.

Chlamydia, gonorrhea, infectious syphilis, AIDS and many other disgusting sexual diseases are also running rampant in New York City and across the United States.

How in the world did the United States get to this point?

Why is this happening?

I bet a lot of them feel that the world is doomed anyway, so why not. The same happened in the 70s, during the cold war build up. They figured they might as well "do it" before they get nuked to oblivion.

Maybe we should stop equating virginity with purity. Then we could improve our health programs in school to teach teens how to practice safe sex if they choose to engage in sexual behavior. Then we should have affordable healthcare for everyone so that sexually active people can get routine check-ups so that they know if they have an STD, especially if they have the majority of STDs which can be treated with anti-biotics. This sounds like a great plan to me. As long as you practice safe sex, and take all the correct procautions, you do not contract STDs, and that's a fact.

You must blame yourself if you can't conduct yourself! God will make a clear judgment.

"You must blame yourself if you can't conduct yourself! God will make a clear judgment."

I'd like to believe that God's only role isn't to just judge us. Jesus chilled with hookers, so if it's Christianity that is gonna make someone have a purity party feel free, but please don't assume to know the actions of the creator of the world.

Why are there so many studies against children?

why not do a study about the amount of adults with diseases or something?

age is nothing but a number not wisdom

age discrimination is what this is.

I know what the creator of the world will do. I'm not christian, I'm not stupid I don't go to church ok? The creator of the world if you believe in him you know that he hates sin and he will judge all unjust act at the day. Otherwise you don't know him.

follow the link! this sh*t is Xian propaganda. don't buy the lie..

I doubt the validity of the claims because the source is clearly biased.

However, I do know teen pregnancy has gone up since Bush & the Xians imposed abstinence only sex ed in the schools.

I would like to believe people in the 21st century would come to know that god is silly superstitious non-sense.

    Sex is love is good.

Why all this talk of sin? Sin is denial of the body. Sin is to refuse pleasure.

Sex is healthy and natural. Being pure is nothing to be proud of - being pure is just another form of religious oppression. . Don't buy the lie.

Protect yourself, but have fun and experience life.

    @unimatrix

being "pure" in the sense of keeping virginity is not necessarily a sign of religous opression. it could simply be nothing complex and a desire to control the memory of your first time. But i do agree that our health-care and education systems are failing in this regard. if there is a problem ignoring it isn't gonna solve anything. so when they try to teach abstinence( which IS ignoring the aspect of sex by saying just don't have it) they are not actively tackling the issue of education about sex. think about it. if i just teach abstinence and my students follow it they can still have sex with their first partner and not know condoms and catch an STD. great knowlege of sex education right?

and also, i remember seeing a post on current awhile ago about a study which showed that sex in out tv culture has a relation to the rise of sexual activity among teens. it made me think. why don't they ever show people putting condoms on T.V.? i think even a small thing such as showing carrie playfully putting the condom on mr.big(but not showing it necessarily) can have an amazing effect. even when not showing it being placed on the viewer will understand whats going on via body launguage and the script....lol i couldn't see necessaruly through those multi-colored fuzzy lines, but i knew what was happening on the spice channel haha

do you really expect 17 18 and 19 year old individuals not to venture and learn their sexual identity? its gonna happen. at least we teach people how to be smart about it.

Condoms don't protect against herpes... that's why now it's what 1 in 4 that have it in NY! There's no cure... And it's a horrible disease.

Why do people play Russian roulette with their sexual health? commitment & know your partner.

studies have repeatedly shown that "abstinence only" education does not lead to less sex or fewer partners, only more pregnancy and disease.

without some education on how to use condoms and other control factors effectively, those given "A O" have increasingly spread disease.

this is a great article for demonstrating ... yet again... that "A O" is not the way to go.

Let's take a minute to look at what the author of the post said.

"More American teenagers have practiced oral sex than have not."

Ok. And is this bad? What is wrong with this?

"These are kids who have not even reached their 20th birthday yet."

So what? I'm personally 19 years old, and I lost my virginity a few years ago. We have to stop thinking of teenagers as non-sexual beings. I'm talking about 15 year old girls and boys who have sexual desires and feelings just like everyone else.

Stop treating them like pre-adolescent kids.

"Does the wildness of the teens of America have any limits?"

If by wildness you mean unprotected sex, then yes, that's a problem.

"A nation full of sexual immorality is a nation full of sexual disease."

What does sexual immorality mean? Sex with many partners? Or unprotected sex? If your definition of sexual immorality is that of unprotected sex, then I agree.

But what's wrong with having sex with multiple partners as long as you have safe sex?

    OOOOH oral sex.
ARE THERE ANY LIMITS TO SUCH HORRORS!? haha pfft please, it's not the sex thats the problem, it's the education. and COME ON prude-ness is a plague that should have been wiped out a long time ago.

This is mixed up opinion about how we've "failed" God & statistics from a city survey. This is not "news", but an religious hit piece designed to instill end of world fear in mankind. Dig down please.

    And good points Vega.

What I want to know, are these results brought on by teaching abstinence as opposed to safe sex, or maybe visa versa?

I think that what it really boils down to is parents not teaching their children about everything that the children should know. I wasn't told that I had to hold onto my virginity/purity until I was married, but I wasn't encouraged to go out and play with every girl on the playground either... I was told about the facts of nature, the facts about STD's, and the facts about protection ranging from simple condoms to other forms of birth control that don't give protection against STD's. Hell, I didn't bother losing my "purity" until I was past 20. Why? because when I processed all of the information about the payoff compared to the risk, it just seemed like too much of a hassle. To tell the truth, I'm happy I waited so long. I'm not married, but I'm an intelligent adult and I can make responsible decisions. And if I do happen to fuck up (no pun intended) then I'm mature enough to deal with the consequences.
