China's Ministry of Transport has started accepting escort requests from Chinese vessels for protection by two missile destroyers and a supply vessel, China Daily reported.
The mission to the gulf is China's first naval deployment on a potential combat mission beyond its territorial waters in recent history, analysts said. In addition to Chinese-flag ships, vessels from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan can also seek escorts from the warships, officials said.
Local media reports in Hong Kong indicated the Hong Kong Marine Department has submitted seven applications requesting protection for its ships off Somalia, China Daily said.

Am i the only one actually reading the article? Geez, you people are ignorant fools. I've lived in china personally, and I must say Communist or not these people are people and they have lives actually similar to ours. The fact that they're actually doing something good is looked down upon. WTF. When are you going to give anyone a chance? They are actually doing something against piracy to protect other ships not only their ships: tourist ships, cruise ships, trading ships, and all ships are all included.
Just because these people are Communist and have different beliefs don't mean that they don't value the same goal for safety and happiness in society. They are obviously doing more than any of you in trying protect those goals.
