A former U.S. judge who unsuccessfully sued his South Korean immigrant dry cleaners for $54 million over a lost pair of pants is not giving up.

Roy Pearson has filed a petition with an appeals court, requesting the case be reheard - this time by a nine-judge panel. Pearson claimed Custom Cleaners failed to live up to its promise of "Satisfaction Guaranteed."

Three appellate judges agreed last month that Pearson failed to show the store's advertising amounted to fraud and said his argument defied logic.

In asking for a hearing before the entire court, Pearson argues the three-judge panel failed to address all the issues in his appeal.

Pearson did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment Tuesday. Phone calls to his home went unanswered.

And we wonder why the justice system is so backed up.

Hey, it isn't humanity's fault! The fault lies with the legal system and with the greedy nutcase who's trying to get rich quick.

he is reping himself so you know what they say about a person that represents himself .....

this judge should know, there is a case we read here in law school that is specifially about something like this. and he as a judge would have had to know about it. why the court is entertaining this case this long is the stupid part....but he can file so long as they dont dismiss with prejudice!!

He probably figured the defendants wouldn't bother showing up in court and then win his suit be default. What he forgot is that when you ask for that much money few defendants just forget that. If you want to win petty suits like that first you go for petty amounts and second you don't pick on real small businesses who will just file bankruptcy even if you win.. idiot.. He's probably one of those judges who sentences people to long terms in prison for spitting on sidewalks.

This 'judge' lacks judgement and obviously (to any logical individual) should not be a judge. The case is OLD! It has been going on for what seems like forever. He and his pants are a waste of our time and money.....lock him up without any pants and see what kind of guarantee comes with that.

quixotic12: if you think this is mucked up....you must have never been involved in family court....that is a real nightmare and a total mess! Even if and when one might agree with their ex we can not just agree and draw up a stipulation.

And mram49....you are probably right about his sentencing habits.

I think most people have two considerations to weigh -

1/ The judge's psychological balance and his riotous sense of disproportion.

2/ Advertently (or inadvertently) bringing the judiciary into disrepute. He just doesn't seem to care about more than punitive damages and deliberately harming a small company. Not good optics.
