Here's the article:
Three times in recent days, a small group of foreign correspondents was told to appear at the border crossing to Gaza. The reporters were to be permitted in to cover first-hand the Israeli war on Hamas in keeping with a Supreme Court ruling against the two-month-old Israeli ban on foreign journalists entering Gaza.
Each time, they were turned back on security grounds, even as relief workers and foreign nationals were permitted to cross the border. On Tuesday the reporters were told not even to bother coming.
And so for an 11th day of Israel’s war in Gaza, the several hundred journalists here to cover it wait in clusters away from direct contact with any fighting or Palestinian suffering but with full access to Israeli political and military commentators eager to show them around southern Israel, where Hamas rockets have been terrorizing civilians. A slew of private groups financed mostly by Americans are helping guide the press around Israel.
Like all wars, this one is partly about public relations. But unlike any war in Israel’s history, in this one, the government is seeking to control entirely the message and narrative for reasons both of politics and military strategy.

People should question immediately why journalists would not be allowed to view a conflict as it develops. Especially when the force censors the media from an area it has direct control. gaza is currently a slaughterhouse pure and simple. and enclosed rampage is going on. it does have a focused target yet shooting a bullet in a crowded room is bound to have casualties. hamas isn't making palestinians human shileds, the gaza residents are just being held by both arms and can't get outta the way.
-
the media famously gave away israeli tank positions in lebanon a few years ago, endangering the lives of Israeli soldiers. israel is trying to prevent that when surprise is so important to success.
-
they don't want people to see the real truth. they want to hide as much as possible. I say let the reporters in . I know the footage they would cover would be very graphic. But we all need to see the truth. They can't keep this from the media for long. May as well let them in , We all know the truth . we know what started this war and what will end it. Give the of Gaza back their rights, food , water, electric. supplies for the hospital. the list can go on and on. My heart is screaming for peace to all involved.

@worldpiece says: "one of the most horrific humanitarian crisis ever that it has brought down on the Palestinians people"
jordan killed 5000 pals in a weekend in the 70's.
syria killed 10000 in hama, syria.hamas killed hundreds of fatah this year alone,
shooting 100 in cold blood this week alone. -
dataminded, Israel is a criminal state. These war crimes will not go unanswered in the International community, mark my words. Israel will face charges in many criminal courts and its leaders brought to the Hague for crimes against humanity.
-
Datamined could care less about facts. He/she/it will say anything to sing the praises of Israel.
-
This speaks for itself.
Anytime you systematically prevent the truth from getting out you can be sure it is because it will turn even the most non-political person against you.
It is a smart move by Israel.
It'll be a lot harder to ethnically cleanse Gaza if people know what they are doing.
Isn't that why the Nazi's kept their actions secret?
-
They're doing exactly what George Bush did. They just don't want any more bad news reported. I guess they figure images of dead children are hurting their image.
Do remember that George Bush learned this tactic from Vladimir Putin. Only Putin kills reporters for airing bad news.
-
Of course they did... they don't the world to know they are carrying out a Genocide.
So quickly they seem to have forgotten what happened to their own people not so long ago.
-
This really isn't surprising, Israel definitely does not have a history of journalistic openness. Anyone else remember that BBC reporter that got shot and killed by Israeli troops for filming their bulldozing of the Gaza strip?
I hope this whole thing just blows over.
-

First, if you bring the Nazis into the argument you only reveal the poverty of your own intellect.
Second, both sides are wrong. If you support Hamas and the Palestinians you are wrong. If you support Israel and the Israelis you are wrong.
Hamas does use women and children as human shields, this is a fact. It is cowardly and reprehensible.
Israels nevertheless attacks Hamas with overwhelming force, killing and wounding the innocent, which is also reprehensible.
Passionate rhetoric serves no purpose. The hyperbolic dramatics only inflames the passions with out informing the mind.

Let's cry! Let's chant and let's Protest against those that Chanted when Plains hit the TT in 9/11. Let's protect and let's throw wood to the Fire that feeds the mouth of those that want YOU dead.
The media is everywhere, Al Jazeera has people everywhere and covering every single spot.
One thing is to Love those that Hate you, another thing is to Help them commit their Crimes.
Supporting Hamas and the Palestinian people is Suicide.

Israel soldiers shot tears gases in vest bank against protesters and presstv's correspondent became unconscious.....

I cannot believe the number of pro Hamas stories that have filtered to the top of the front page at Current.com.
I honestly can't believe it. You should be ashamed of yourselves Current, for bumping so many pro Hamas, anti-Israel stories during this time of conflict. Balance your home page. This goes for the staff and all the viewers voting. Don't be so blind and one sided. Acknowledge the atrocities on both sides.

"Lloyds TSB have effectively shutdown the accounts of Interpal and Barclays has done the same with Ummah Welfare Trust, ceasing relief operations around the world. Not only do the powers humiliate Muslims by invading their countries and causing mass losses in human life, they have the nerve to financially restrict aid assistance into these countries under false pretenses".
-
@dabne..posts are not PRO hamas as you would like to believe, the posts are telling Israel to quit the genocidal murder of innocent people, including children. The Massacre of innocents not carrying weapons and blaming it on hamas- that they are using people as human shields..that argument is a lie for the most part and is Israels excuse to kill, murder and maim children and eventually, eliminate a race of people...GENOCIDE

As a jew I feel terribly lost and betrayed.

Is this surprising to anyone?
I am always amazed at how here in America, we put down other countries and say how great and how free we are.
Somehow freedom does not mean -
Media suppression
Government Corruption
Poverty unless you are a big corporation
Elected officials basically telling the voter..@@ck you, I will do what I want and not what is good for the people
People being palced in government not because of qualifications but instead because who they know...
This is Freedom?

If anyone knows about media-clamping, it's the NY Times!

Actions speak louder than words. Or in this case, barring the media just spurs on the negativity harboured against Israel. But they don't seem to care what the rest of the world thinks. Then again, did they ever?
-
lol @ highroller & ilmor. You guys do realize you're not going to get a response from the pro-Israel current trolls. After all, how do you respond to this? Seems like Israel is covering up a genocide. Does anybody remember who else did this? Starts with a N, rhymes with "azi's"
