This is why it's crucial that we, the people, make sure that our elected officials understand, now more than ever, they will be under the closest of scrutiny by us. Use the internet wisely and let them know that we are watching their every move. Make damn certain they understand that, should they fail us as leaders, they will be systematically replaced.
It's up to each of us to know the issues that effect our daily lives and, more importantly, the future of this nation.
Because things are as bad as they are and getting worse, no one in DC or any of the state's legislative houses gets to coast through their terms. No one.
We can't afford it.

Its a huge issue. If Big Bidness will lose money by a problem being fixed, almost assuredly, that problem will not be fixed. Global Warming. Healthcare. And on and on.

This is amazing! I went to the shower this morning thinking exactly about this issue of elections, corruption and money. Hey you're reading my mind!!! May I add here that nothing will change if we do not change our philosophy of creating health from the debt thinking to the value thinking.

Agree. Another possibe solution might be some form of term limits

Solution?
Is it possible to do away with large corps. supplying lobbyists and money to campaigns, thus causing a conflict of interest?
(It's illegal in many municipalities)
Is it possible to make our elected reps do as they claimed?
Why is it the American people keep voting in the same old tired politicians, preaching the same rhetoric year after year?
People have grown apathetic, figuring (rightly in some cases) that what they do/vote/write senators, does not make a difference.
That attitude needs to be changed before the rest can be changed.
It starts with one person, and one movement.
