Meet the haters Tina Fey told off

Those anonymous internet critics Tina Fey told to "suck it" in her Golden Globe acceptance speech are actual posters on the LA Times' Envelope awards site. And mean! Some points of clarification, though. Two of the three commenters Fey called out in her speech (video above) are the same person — "dianefan" used to be "cougar-letter." And the third, "BabsonLacrosse," totally got caught in the crossfire.
On the serious, Fey is HUGE right now, and much deservedly so.

If critics can criticize, why can't the criticized criticize the critics? We as a whole tend to think negatively if this happens as though the criticized should just take it on the chin but I think critics themselves should not be immune to criticism.

Tina Fey is brilliant. Her portrayal of Sarah Palin is thee only good thing about Sarah Palin who is disgusting. Remember how she suggested that Barack Obama was a terrorist? Tina Fey deserves a lot more than a Golden Globe for characterizing Palin so brilliantly.

I love Tina and, perhaps, I'm missing the point but, after seeing this and the Colbert remix post make it to the the top of the page, I'm starting to question Current's current state of mental health. I'd hate to see it devolve into a virtual "Enquirer". That would be a shame.

I think this article was certainly current news in a pop culture vain. It's the fluff articles paired with gratuitous pictures of naked women that piss me off. Really, just add a pic of some slutty looking girl to your article and poof! You've got everyone clicking it and you're at the top. Weak.

Tina Fay did something many of us wish we could do but either we don't have the stage or we don't have the courage. She told off some crude and insensitive jerks who thought it was funny to make fun of her. Did you notice how the audience applauded her. I applaud her too because she's a hero.

Tina Fey is a comedian, most famous for political comedy aside from her movies, and her role in society is to ridicule society. In this niche, it is her duty to show people things in their life which are unpleasant, but in an entertaining way so that people will actually pay enough attention to think about the subject.
Take for example her parody of Sarah Palin. She exemplifies that Palin was lacking in intelligence comparatively, and appeared to be a token sex symbol. These things were disgusting to some Americans (myself included), while some didn't care, and some overlooked these things.
When you take the things that a comedian says as just personal attacks, you loose the value of the message. Ridiculing political figures for inadequacies is more about enticing you to see another side of them that their spin doctors would never let through in their own presentations.
For all of Tina Fey's success in being clever enough to shed light for so many people in an entertaining way, she deserves to be able to plainly stick it to all the people who bash her.

I like her. I wish I could watch her show. I don't have time to do that. I think her Palin was hilarious.
I see this two ways...one she told these idiots that they hide to say they don't like her and they need to move on.
But on the flip side she mocks people for a living. She needs to learn to take it and shut up.
I'm siding more with her telling them to shove it, though.

This post may not come under the guise of "important" to many, but it is a nice break from the bleakness of war, poverty, genocide and food poisoning.

I know it's important in Hollywood circles, but why is it "top stories voted up" on Current News important?
I'm a Tina Fey fan, and she is funny, but I wished she had used the spotlight to say something more memorable.
Here's an acceptace speech that I like:
On behalf of our producers Kathleen Glynn and Michael Donovan from Canada, I'd like to thank the Academy for this.
I've invited my fellow documentary nominees on the stage with us, and we would like to -- they are here -- they are here in solidarity with me because we like non-fiction.
We like non-fiction and we live in fictitious times.
We live in the time where we have fictitious election results that elects a fictitious President.
We -- We live in a time where we have a man sending us to war for fictitious reasons.
Whether it's the fictition of duct tape or the fictitious [sic] of orange alerts, we are against this war, Mr. Bush.
Shame on you, Mr. Bush, shame on you.
And any time you've got the Pope and the Dixie Chicks against you, your time is up.
Thank you very much.
http://www.americanrhetoric.com/mp3clips/speeches/michaelmooreoscaracceptance434...Now that was memorable. I guess Michael Moore has the bigger cajones, but he's not as funny or pretty. I know we need both serious and light hearted entertainment, but couldn't someone have said... something???
We're still in "that" war and more, after all.
At least we can look forward to saying goodbye to Bush.

It is very important because we are a hollywood culture where tearing down your neighbor is the name of the game. No one is perfect but the world expects you to be and its a petty thing since we are more worried about the shoes someone wears than their policy.

In what text are we defined as a hollywood culture? Hollywood is an influence on our culture as a whole, but America is made up of many cultures. If we were to take the minority portion of our population, how many of them would you consider to be of the hollywood culture? Does tearing down your neighbor exist everywhere in this culture? Before making claims, please support.
I could claim that our culture helps build up our neighbor. Who works on rebuilding New Orleans? What is Habitat for Humanity? Why have so many people dropped so many things to participate in these areas? Just because mainstream media may focus more on the Hollywood aspect of our culture does not mean that it is our only, or our most important, culture. I think you may have been tricked by the big picture of marketing and publicity into thinking Hollywood is our culture.

I was so impressed when she did that. It's like all these haters of people like Kirsten Dunst .. yeah she may be average looking .. guess what so is 90% of the population and "she" represents the audience and does not intimidate the "viewers". All the while she is raking in millions while the troll minions on the internet make fun of her. Who's the real winner guys??? Yeah, your little jokes might get a chuckle but the psychology of your position is quite sad and you are certainly missing the big picture of marketing and viewer acceptance.

I'm hoping you weren't referring to the psychology of my quip. When you post comment with pronouns, I think it would be nice to reply to people or at least identify who you are talking to... and by throwing the phrase "troll minions" out there, what does that make you? A troll minion identifier. People may be making jokes at the spotlight members of our society, but by you criticizing troll minions, couldn't you be considered a troll minion of troll minions?
Just to let you know, I actually am a huge fan of Tina Fey. The comment was in some way alluding to her portrayal of Sarah Palin in her SNL skit, while at the same time being used to compliment her (as the original line "Maverick was intended to do for McCain).
"Missing the bigger picture of marketing and viewer acceptance" - are we not viewers? Do we not help determine acceptance? Why do low internet troll minions get left out of the viewer population?
It's quite humorous that your post makes such a number of presumptions about the other posts without much information. Maybe people are missing the big picture of marketing, but are you missing a big picture of human behavior and psychology in itself by these assumptions? And if you are missing those aforementioned, how could you know if we are missing marketing if you are coming to conclusions that do not have concrete foundations?
