A new way to fight crime in Rio de Janeiro

re-size
Police in Rio de Janeiro, notorious for their shoot-first ways, use a new approach in their fight against crime: community policing. The aim is to win the hearts and minds in a slum in an attempt to pacify one of the world's most violent cities. If successful, the pilot program will be implemented in other areas.

Great pod. Starting with "community" is really our answer to almost everything. We have to save ourselves and stop thinking government can do it all.

great for the police to get involved, as long as they don't become the bully. The only way to defeat the drug gangs is to do something about prohibition. Prohibition puts money in the hands of thugs. You notice that alcohol is not dealt by the gangs, no profit.
