As always "liberal" is taken out of context to pidgeon hole every one into one of 2 catagories. conservative and liberal. I myself am a progressive. I am a veteran, I own handguns and rifles, if I don't know you and you come to my home you will not exit your vehicle until I call off the dogs. I believe in a womans right to make her own decisions about her body, I believe that a church who uses the pulpit to further their agenda in politics should no longer be tax exempt. I do belong to 2 state militia's however the one in KY where I live is a neocon organization bent on theocratic rule. These people are wackjobs. Do not ever tell ME you are a good christian conservative. For you are the people who have done the most damage to democracy and the constitution. Good christians do not give taxbreaks and subsidies to environmental terrorists who are poisoning Americans. Good christians do not deny civil liberties based on prejudiced beliefs. Tolerance and compassion are supposed to be the hallmark of christianity. The right wing christians have perverted these beliefs for their own purposes. This is not to say ALL christians are bad . Quite the contrary, some people view the story of Jesus as one of the greatest examples of the first push toward a society that values human life and equality for all of mankind. Help your fellow man , not ridicule him for his misfortunes. Not all welfare families want to be where they are . It only serves to sooth the concience if you can lump them all as worthless freeloaders. Much easier to sleep at night when you can dismiss true hardship as freeloading liberals.
And that's all got to say bout that. - 3 years ago

The NRA Leadership isn't retarded...They've been bought & paid for by the Right Wing Multi-National Corporate Gun manufacturers...Abandoning the Small Guys, & using what used to be the best Firearms Friendly hunting & shooting magazine as mostly propoganda! I have family who runs a rifle range and they sell guns, too. I asked about this and they said that they have not ran out of any of the government forms nor have they noticed an increase in the desire for ammunition. We live in Southern Georgia, where you would think this trend would be especially apparent.
This just seems like someone's attempt to start something, kind of like the self perpetuating gas paranoia that had gas stations running out of gas.
The person who wrote this is probably thinking that the silly sheep will run out and buy all kinds of guns and then we will see an increase.

By the time the preprogramming is ready, people will believe the most ridiculous drivel because it is consistent with that which they have swallowed before. Divide and Conquer.
Time was, Americans thought themselves world travellers/tourists who took an interest in the welfare of others.
Now the Religious Reich whips up a frenzy of fear against anyone different - a task far too easy with a super pack of violent predators.
We are the enemy. Israelis have been afraid of Iranian nukes when they are the ones who have them and the Iranians don't ! Americans are afraid of foreigners when everything the U.S. does is backed by the implied threat of nuclear rain.
There is never 'peace' when the weapons makers drive an economy. - 3 years ago

May I suggest an explanation or two ;)
Could it be that the American rabble is being treated by their media & so called elites as the village idiots they have been molded into becoming... We are being drove raving mad because we lack the basic education & culture to understand the world as it is and are ripe to be manipulated by our lower reptilian brain where fear reigns supreme..
"Dictatorships start wars because they need external enemies to exert internal control over their own people." - Richard Perle
"As America becomes an increasingly multi-cultural society, it may find it more difficult to fashion a consensus on foreign policy issues, except in the circumstance of a truly massive and widely perceived direct external threat." - Zbigniew Brzezinski
"Terrorism is the best political weapon for nothing drives people harder than a fear of sudden death." - Adolf Hitler
As stated by Gonzo, not everybody is absolutely blind to it either, but it seems this point of view is not especially good for one's mental or physical health...
"We have become a monster in the eyes of the whole world – a nation of bullies and bastards who would rather kill than live peacefully. We are not just whores for power and oil, but killer whores with hate and fear in our hearts. We are human scum, and that is how history will judge us… No redeeming social value. Just whores. Get out of our way, or we’ll kill you." – Hunter S. Thompson
Meanwhile...
You're not stupid, they just talk to you this way !
While on the other hand...
"We are watching a poorly staged rendition of Wag the Dog , interpreted for the morbidly stupid and performed by the criminally insane." - Jules Carlysle

Before I write my comment I would like to state I am a liberal who believes in the adage that if they outlaw guns only outlaws will have guns.
That said, the article was absolutely absurd to the point of paranoia. Americans have lost their minds. Everyone sees themselves as being threatened by A, B or C and are arming themselves for a shoot out. One claim the author makes is that people are arming themselves against an incoming socialist regime. Excuse me? This country has been "socialist" for decades. What else would you call handing hundreds of billions of dollars in tax subsidies, tax break and grants (for decades) to corporate America????? Are people really so stupid that they think that America used to have a real free market economy and that everyone was required to pull themselves up by their bootstraps or die? GIVE ME A BREAK!!!
America is on the verge of, if not already suffering, a collective nervous breakdown. All the symptoms are there, delusions, paranoia, anger, the inability to integrate factual reality into their thinking etc. To think that these fools are arming themselves to defend themselves from what they perceive as a socialist administration is nothing more than rationalizing their hatred for ANYONE who doesn't think in the same narrow minded way that they do. If anything, with President MORONS exit, the threat from our own government has diminished exponentially.
I was born in the 50's and I have NEVER seen Americans act as crazy as they are now. However I have a theory. For years the hard right looked to Bush as their savior. However, when he betrayed conservative principles and expanded the government to huge proportions, started tossing tax money at corporations, reveled in shipping US jobs overseas etc. they felt betrayed much like the "libruls" have felt for years. However we liberals never expected anything better from President Moron but conservatives did. To them both parties have betrayed them so they feel their is no one left to rely other than themselves. Hence all the gun sales.
I find it odd that the only other countries that have as many heavily armed citizens are countries like, Iraq and Afghanistan. Maybe we are more like them than we care to admit.

It's not the government nor the "illegals" that will be the source of fear and violence in this upcoming maelstrom. It's all of these tough-guy, rambo, gun nuts. That's who you will be defending your homes and families from. So like it or not, these assfucks will force every citizen to own firearms because they are the violent element that we will need to defend against when the shit hits the fan. Afraid of the "terrorists" that might come out from under your bed? Oooooh scary. Forget the terrorists, they're only useful to the politicians who want to use that fear to control us. The real threat will come from your own neighborhood. When the tough-guy gun nut living next door or down the block decides that his family needs your food....or that his family is just better people than your family, so yours needs to go. So go on everybody. Buy your weapons while you can. In a few short months we won't have to argue about the Israel/Palistinian massacre anymore. We can have our very own massacre right here. Just imagine a target on your neighbor's back....or your own.

What are you so scared of? You’re a pray mantis, you have lightning fast kung fu grip and action. The only thing you should be afraid of is birds and fucking. Least among your concerns should be the consideration of the statistical odds of dying. Again you’re a pray mantis you’re not supposed to be that smart……bitch.
Seriously stop and think about your argument. You call people with guns crazy for fearing terrorists (which is a straw man argument in itself since our second amendment rights have little if anything to do with combatin’ terrorism) yet the statistical odds of being killed by a terrorist combined with the odds of dying from an accidental shooting plus the odds of dying from an intentional shooting from a police officer are still way lower then the statistical odds of dying from the flu.
So here’s a thought, if you’re really so scared of gun touting crazies then stay at home and refrain from calling people bitches because chances are good that if you do incite the homicidal rage in one of those crazies the police still will not be capable of doing much. That’s right the police department has a slightly better bating average than an over the counter flu remedy, yet you still call people crazy for wanting to defend their wellbeing from an assault.
Then again if you look at the issue a little different and instead focus on law enforcements ability to deter crime rather than stop it by force, the statistics get even worse (for your argument that is).

Americans guns are the only thing that keeps them free. Our Government has went overboard on Military spending for secret projects. Bankrupted us when we should be the richest country on the planet. It is time to bring our troops home, protect our borders and quit spending all of our funds on black projects. This isn't protecting the citizens, this is maintaining a super power hell bent on world domination at the expense of the working family.

you can talk about the intent of the second amendment as only applying to militias, but there was ALSO the intent of not establishing a standing army. and should such an army turn on the people, militias will most definitely be necessary, and gun ownership will be necessary to empower said militias. the fact that we defied the intent of the second amendment by establishing a standing army only gives MORE cause to maintain gun rights, not less.
the militias bit is a stated reason for personal gun ownership, not a proviso.

You are clearly misinformed. What is currently called an assault rifle that would be available to our citizens ARE NOT fully automatic, they are ALL semi-auto. How are you to know what kind of threat or multiple threats you can face in a crisis? The people who rode out Katrina faced multiple threats from gang types looting and NO law enforcement was to be found. A semi-auto rifle would have been the proper weapon in such a crisis. Instead LE decided to confiscate guns and violate our second amendment leaving people defenseless.
