Brother kills sister for wearing make-up and mini-skirts
Dark haired Morsal Obeidi was the daughter of an Afghan jet fighter pilot who fled the country after the Taleban came to power.
The court was told dark-haired Morsal liked listening to Western music and wearing make up. She also wore mini-skirts and tight jeans and enjoyed going out to discos with pals she met at school.
But instead, her brother, Ahmad, wanted her to wear a veil and go to a mosque for daily prayers.
Although he enjoyed going out drinking with his mates Ahmad did not think it was suitable for his sister to do the same.
The so-called 'honour killing' was allegedly the tragic end to Ahmad's violence against his young and pretty sister.

Is an "honor killing" ever justified?

Of course not! But, in other situations you and others have said "all violence is due to the person's suffering". So what was this brother suffering from?

a backwards barbaric take on an life, induced by religion.

Wow are u serious, freedom cannot be even within families, what a shame poor girl

The answer depends on whom you're asking the question. If you're asking a Christian, a Zoroastrian, a Jew, a Jain, a Bahai, a Buddhist, a Hindu or a Westernized, secular non-believer, the answer would be no.
If you're asking a Westernized Muslim or a more moderate Muslim, the answer would be no. If you're asking the type of Muslim who would be denounced by many as a puppet of the West, the answer would be no.
If you're asking a fundamentalist Muslim, or an Islamist, who belongs to a group such as the Muslim Brotherhood or Hamas, and if that person were to be honest, the answer would be yes.

What kind of Religion Persecutes its' own people (WOMEN), Islam claims good and yet some of his followers are crazy people, maybe not all of them but a lot of them, when will this insanity end amongst the Radical Muslims around the world that make the Good Non-Violent Muslims look bad. It seems they are destructive against anything that is not in the best interest of ALLAH. GOD or any other deity does not require such constraints, torture and violence against each other only these crazy radical group of Muslims.

what is in a religion that would cause this to happen? whatever it is i would not want any part of it.

Justified Killing is a word that should be banned from any language. Even legal executions are considered for me, killing. In Christianity and my family values, NO ONE has the right to take life from anyone. This is a hideous crime and I hope US, British and NATO forces go all the way into Afghanistan, Pakistan and any Islamic Extremist country and stop this acts.
If I was a President, I would take most of this Western-wannabe by asylum.

I don't understand how you can put a bullshit belief above your love for your family. It's ridiculous!

This person has been convicted of crimes that in a Muslim country, he would have had his hand cut off and been stoned to death. What honour was he suppose to be protecting? Hopefully he will have the rest of his life to contemplate this question in a prison cell.

Let the law judge him to the fullest extent. If he didn't want to obey the standards, he should have moved back to the Middle East.

Well this happened at a fast food parking lot in Germany where the kids grew up....
Ahmad rammed a seven-inch long knife into his sister's body 23 times — in her stomach, backside, arms, legs, heart and lungs. Morsal bled to death at the scene of the crime.
Another "honor killing.." No honor in that. And in an Islamic state men do this all the time with no fear of reprisal.
He did all the same stuff, but he killed his sister for doing the same things he did, or being similar to the kinds of people he hung out with every day! It's the Islamic double standard.
At least in Germany they are treating this like what it is.. murder.

As a muslim myself, I am horrified by these actions. This is totally unjust, immoral, sexist and just plain murder. Radicalist, extremist muslims are utterly deluded by their gross misinterpretation of the Koran. It never gives anyone the right to take another person's life for any reason as an aggressor. Perhaps this girl was not behaving decently or repectfully of her culture but killing her was wrong. Perhaps ironic, this action will indeed brings dishonour onto to him and his family! Go to hell!

Honor killing my ass
-
no one should have a right to take anyone's life away. no matter what religion, culture..etc. we all live a short life and we all know that death is certain...but we shouldn't take it to our hands and kill.

I usually end up defending religious people on current.com but this is definitely not one of those times. That’s because this individual, as noted by RCS and Petarro, is an ass backwards fundamentalist who uses his code to justify murder.
There is nothing humble about using your belief structure to justify your hatred. For that you are a douchbag and deserve to spend the rest of your days locked in a cell, refining your "faith."

Reports have shown that a large percentage of suicide bombers have been coerced for the "honor," of the family. This includes mentally disabled children, errant women, and drug addicts. Homosexuals aren't often given the opportunity, they are just killed. Wow, and I thought our drug war was harsh. When someone asks me, what is Israel fighting against, I would say this has a lot to do with the public support. I still regret though that certain kids who could've changed won't get that chance now, or even the kids who were already being raised right. But I do feel this mentality only responds to violence. At the outset of this war, there was a report of a similar killing by a younger teen of his older sister in Israel propper. If anything, this belief of women's inferiority is reason enough to kick all of their asses with a battallion of women. I once had a Palestinian/Puerto Rican American friend who was born in Lodi but forced into marriage in the West Bank. She rebelled and became born again, only to have her father disown her. If you are fighting for civil rights, there are things wrong in Israel, but not nearly as wrong as how women are treated in the West Bank. Israelis do not want to be ever governed by Sharia.

And so we see Organized Religion at its FULL potential!!
I wish I could live to see the day that religion – as we know it – dies.
-
If they feel so strongly about honor, why not blow themselves up as martyrs over it, instead of killing others.
I'll support that!
