Children do best when brought up by two parents with a ‘longterm commitment’ to each other, a major new study found yesterday.
The report, produced after a two-year inquiry for leading charity the Children’s Society, highlighted the trend towards mothers of young children choosing to work as instrumental in the breakdown of traditional family life.
The report – A Good Childhood – also declared that the presence of a father was vital and that children suffer from a missing father long into their adulthood.
