The Robot Menace is coming for your "Pat the Bunny" books!
Research has been going on in France into how human skin, particularly in the hand, registers touch. Big breakthroughs have been made that will allow prosthetics to mimic all the minute variations that the human hand can feel. This could be a major step forward for, obviously, prosthetic limbs, as well as for robotics. A robotic hand with the same range of motion and nervous perception as a human hand could be used remotely to handle dangerous materials of all sorts.
Of course, it's also one step closer to the inevitable takeover of the Robot Menace. First they learn to feel, then they learn to love the feeling of crushing our throats!

I just realized, you could also use this technology to make a robot masseuse. Ugh, my resolve is wavering...
