Tens of thousands of Iranians chanting anti-US slogans have rallied in the capital Tehran, celebrating 30 years of the Iranian revolution.
Addressing the rally on Tuesday, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president, said Iran was ready for dialogue with the US provided the talks were based on mutual respect.
As many in the crowd carried placards reading "Death to America" and set alight US flags, Ahmadinejad said: "The new US administration has announced that they want to produce change and pursue the course of dialogue.
"It is quite clear that real change must be fundamental and not tactical. It is clear the Iranian nation welcomes real changes."
"The Iranian nation is ready to hold talks but talks in a fair atmosphere with mutual respect," he said.

peace talks are a good thing, however, not with Iran. The only thing they understand is 5.56 mm. and the US has plenty of that to give them. Kissing their ass with negotiations will only backfire and make us look silly. What in the world would make you believe Iran would welcome real change? Those people have been aiding in the death of our troops in Iraq for years now.

I hope this talk happens. I am also very optimistic about Khatami's nomination for presidency. Ahmadinejad is not the best person to talk to, but if Khatami gets elected this summer many things can change in the Middle-East.
By the way, the picture here shows a demonstration from 1978 not the today's one.

hahahaha
i want to see iran try to conquer israel
we would jump on there shit so fast they wont know what hit him. Now that would be the battle that a lot of US soldiers would love to be in.
Dont get me wrong many people would die but where i am and where i have been, almost all of the soldiers i have met want a real war.
Now thats coming from infantry guys, i doubt any pog would want another war. And i kno i sound selfish about it but it is true.

what is there to say about an american soldier stationed in someone else's country.. itching to go to war with another separate country.. all based on the misinterpretation of a powerless figurehead..
i understand the need for empty-headed tools to fill up your barracks.. no one to question your orders regardless of how immoral or counterintuitive they may be.. but it is disturbing when pleasure is perceived at the thought of killing others.. such a mentality is a perversion.. a liability.. and a disgrace for other americans.. and humanity at large..

who is the evil empire? who illegally invades other countries?

Do the tens of thousands of people chanting anti-US slogans believe what they are chanting? Or are they doing this because their boss/school etc expects them to be out there?

They are rallying in the street shouting death to America and burning American flags, and people think it's a good idea to talk to them. Yeah, that should work out great. They'll love us in no time. Wow some people are naive.
