HALLIBURTON / KBR STEALING US BLIND !

We knew, well some of us did, ( http://www.halliburtonwatch.org/ ) but now a new book describes the process in all its abject misery. And please remember this is all happening RIGHT NOW while we are all collectively taken to the cleaners…

"Halliburton’s Army: How a Well-Connected Texas Oil Company Revolutionized the Way America Makes War” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntTUmS0zDGE

BOOK REVIEW : http://www.corpwatch.org/article.php?id=15287

PRATAP CHATTERJEE: $25 billion in the last five years has gone to Halliburton, now Kellogg Brown & Root, their subsidiary, in Iraq, to be able to build the bases for American soldiers and to do this war. They get a guaranteed profit; these contracts are cost plus. So whatever Halliburton, or now Kellogg Brown & Root, do in Iraq, they are going to get two percent. In Bosnia, it was seven percent, nine percent. Doesn’t matter how much they charge, they are guaranteed—how much is spent, they’re guaranteed to get a profit. They never make a loss. And so, for them, this is—you know, it’s gravy, in some ways, because whether Obama withdraws from Iraq or continues there, they’re going to get the contract to supply the military.

Obama's point is, I will make them more accountable. I mean, in his legislation he’s promoted, he has never said that he’s going to withdraw the contractors. And in a sense, this is actually quite important, making them accountable, because this has not happened. I mean, the Iraq war, is—you know, there’s so much waste, so much incompetence there. and—

In Afghanistan it’s exactly the same thing. I was just there in November for three weeks, and you have the same thing. You have, you know, troops who sit behind tanks, living on bases like Bagram, where you have, once again, workers from KBR who supply them with food and clean the toilets and that sort of thing. And nobody’s watching them, partly because—when I was in Kuwait, I asked one of the commanders there, I said, “I can prove to you that this particular subcontract by this company PWC was awarded—you know, should never have been awarded, because they lied on the paperwork. The drivers they hired from Fiji didn’t know how to drive these big reefers. You know, why are they here?” He said, “It doesn’t matter to me. It matters to me now that the soldiers are being fed.” I said, “Will you question this contract? Will you question?” He says, “No, not at all, because in order for me to send my troops into battle, I need to feed them, and I need to make sure that they’re taken care of, and KBR provides that service.”

More of the same but different...

    God this sucks!
The fact that ,tick tock, tick tock, time just keeps going by as Haliburton and KBR empty the treasury. Congress/Senate just keep funding this cabal.
Our piss poor representation in Washington didn't do anything to stop the war crimes of BushCo and they haven't done anything to stop these no-bid contractors from fleecing the treasury.
No we can't afford universal health care! We have to feed the military industrial complex!
We need to scrap the whole system of government as we know it and install some kind of a parliament that can be monitored and controlled.

This is so absurd and was predicted 9 or 10 years ago... that this is where they were headed...but no one ever wants to listen to the coming truth... or, maybe, no one could do anything about it after the bush cabal ran away with the power...

Well, now that we know, will the lesson stand or be insignificant in no time at all... I, for one, will never forget how myself, my country and my countrymen have been betrayed by the bush cabal, Haliburton, KBR, Blackwater and ever how many other hogs are feeding at the money trough...

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly. But the traitor moves among those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not traitor, he speaks in the accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their garments, and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared." - Cicero, 42 B.C.

check this out, the camp I was in was paying KBR a dollar a gallon for the water they delivered. They delivered 10,000 gallons a day if we needed it or not. Multiply that by 365. This is just for one camp.

Halliburton needs to be to be held liable for its business! It hid behind the Bush administration for too long!

  •

It has nothing to do with hiding behind bush. The DOD is the one that approves the contracts.

    Good point.

The president is in charge of those in charge of the DOD though.

The occupation is a joke. Plain and simple. You should expect these types of things to happen when you let corporations influence foreign and domestic policies.

    BP AWARDS HALLIBURTON HIGH-VALUE CONTRACTS

HOUSTON - Halliburton (NYSE: HAL) has been awarded long-term high-value contracts by BP Angola.

BP´s Angola Program covers up to four developments, to be based on a standardized design, and drilling activity is scheduled to commence in 2010. The first development in Block 31, PSVM, was recently sanctioned by BP Angola and its partners. Commitments related to the remaining three developments are anticipated to be awarded upon sanction of the additional projects, with the drilling program taking place over a multi-year period. The development program in total is expected to eventually exceed 150 wells.

The contracts awarded to Halliburton encompass the key elements of Well Completions including Upper and Lower Completions Equipment and Downhole Flow Control. In addition, Halliburton has been awarded the Drilling and Completions Fluids business for these wells.

The estimated value of these contracts will, if all four developments are sanctioned, be in excess of $600MM.

    Angola Mercenary Force

In 1975, after years of bloody fighting and civil unrest in Angola, Portugal resolved to relinquish its hold on the last of its African colonies. The transition was to take place on November 11, with control of the country going to whichever political faction controlled the capital city of Luanda on that date. In the months preceding the change, three groups vied for power: the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), the National Front for the Liberation of Angola (FNLA) and the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA). By July 1975, the Marxist MPLA had ousted the moderate FNLA and UNITA from Luanda, so the CIA decided to intervene covertly. Over $30 million was spent on the Angolan operation, the bulk of the money going to buy arms and pay French and South African mercenaries, who aided the FNLA and UNITA in their fight. Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, US officials categorically denied any involvement in the Angolan conflict.

    Legacy
The civil war spawned a disastrous humanitarian crisis in Angola, internally displacing 4.28 million people, one-third of Angola's population. The United Nations estimated in 2003 that 80 percent of Angolans lacked access to basic medical care, 60 percent lacked access to water, and 30 percent of Angolan children would die before the age of 5, with an overall life expectancy of less than 40 years of age.[142]

The government spent $187 million settling internally displaced persons (IDPs) between April 4, 2002 and 2004, after which the World Bank gave $33 million to continue the settling process. The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) estimated that fighting in 2002 displaced 98,000 people between January 1 and February 28 alone. IDPs, unacquainted with their surroundings, frequently and predominantly fell victim to these weapons, comprising 75% of all landmine victims. Militant forces laid approximately 15 million landmines by 2002.[141] The HALO Trust charity began demining in 1994, destroying 30,000 by July 2007. There are 1,100 Angolans and seven foreign workers who are working for HALO Trust in Angola, with operations expected to finish sometime between 2011 and 2014.[143][144]

Human Rights Watch estimates UNITA and the government employed more than 6,000 and 3,000 child soldiers respectively, some forcibly impressed, during the war. Human rights analysts found 5,000 to 8,000 underage girls married to UNITA militants. Some girls were ordered to go and forage for food to provide for the troops. If the girls did not bring back enough food as judged by their commander, then the girls would not eat. After victories, UNITA commanders would be rewarded with women who were often then sexually abused. The government and U.N. agencies identified 190 child soldiers in the Angolan army and relocated 70 of them by November 2002, but the government continued to knowingly employ other underage soldiers.[145]

This great and powerful force-the accumulated wealth of the United States-has taken over all the functions of Government, Congress, the issue of money, and banking and the army and navy in order to have a band of mercenaries to do their bidding and protect their stolen property.
