40% of Americans support probes of Bush Administration

Almost 40 percent of Americans support criminal investigations into the Bush Administration's use of harsh interrogations and warrantless wiretapping program, even after President George W. Bush left office, a USA Today/Gallup poll found Thursday.

Forty-one percent favor a criminal investigation into the Bush Administration's use of the Justice Department for political purposes; 38 percent favor an investigation for the Administration's warrantless wiretapping and 38 percent favor a criminal probe for the possible use of torture in terrorism investigations.

That number may be a little low. As time goes by and the Bush spin machine starts to slow down, the evangelicals will come to find that they were lied to. When they realize that Bush used their Faith in God against them and in the worst interest of America, we will see a sea-change of opinions. Then, he will know how hot Hell really is.

i think it is way higher than forty percent.we are all just scrambling to keep shit together long enough to get some relief.that is why we should push to extend the statute of limitations on political crimes against our country

It should be a law that each President's Administration is investigated for crimes against America just after they leave office. If it was a good Presidency, the investigation will not take long. If he was like bush, it may take years to learn of all the crimes committed.

That number will skyrocket once the financial state of this country improves(which is gonna take a while...)

The United States is a country of laws. Given W's seemingly apparent unlawful acts, W and his administration should be subject to due process of the courts so these illegal acts can come to daylight. Then, W should be prosecuted or declared innocent.

Don't get too excited. States budgets are crumbling and we can't even keep the criminals in prison who have been proven to commit crimes or have enough money to prosecute new ones. Bush and company have too many high level connections and it will never happen. How many times can we subpeona Karl Rove, he has yet to appear.

This is a very slippery slope give the shaky start of the new administration and Obama's own words during the press conference. This type of thinking can come back to bite him right in the ass. He's not going to do a thing.

I am as pissed off at the Bush administration and anyone else, but lets be realistic what are the chances of him actually going to trial (big phat goose egg) instead it is time to move past bush and the state he left our country in. Even President Obama agrees that any kind of criminal investigation is only going to slow down this country's ability to move past the last 8 years. It's time for change and it is time to move towards a brighter more hopefull America!

You know, this really isn't supposed to be about what we 'feel' like doing. It is international law that we helped write, which we will violate if we do nothing.

It is quite depressing to me that a man can come to power in America and lie about everything, take away rights, destroy the economy, torture, killing over 95,000 Iraqi civilians.. and yet there are still people dumb enough to support him. WTF!

And Obama! He has the potential to be as important to our history as Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson, etc. This country desperately needs real change. I like Obama generally, but alas he is playing politics instead of doing what is right. We need a new enlightenment and stage is set for Obama to really evolve our country to something better. He doesn't seem to fully understand that. I still have some hope though.

And to think that the majority of us stood by idle and watched as our country SPENT to war. Rather then waste our efforts and resources on the past mistakes lets embrace the future with caution, we are the power lets vote out any representatives who were duped in the first place. How about some large protest,or congressional accountability. My concern is that we will be subject to other attacks and GW and his possee can say I told you so,generating the same old fear tactic, and thwarting the efforts of change with our current adminastration. We are blessed to have four years, hopefully we will have four more after that. Sadly though it will take most of us a lifetime to work our way out of this mess. To the rest of the world we are just an Obamanation. Peace..this time 4rls...jrayg

We have too many fish to fry. Pretty soon, all the haters will move on to hating Obama. His agenda is not that different. He just is better spoken. I bet we will be sending men to Afghanistan again.

Does anyone know or care about what is happening in the State of Arizona now? In Phoenix? Drug cartels doing home invasions and kidnapping? We are at war there and no one talks about those poor people. Its as bad as Katrina only with assault rifles.

The sad thing is, is that in all the hatred towards "Bush" in the Bush Administration, more and more focus is lost on Dick Cheney, Condalezza Rice, and Rumsfeld who likely perpetrated most of the crimes committed.

I believe most would agree that Bush isn't intelligent enough to pull this shit off himself, and not intelligent enough to question its constitutionality or reasoning, once brought up by members of the Bush Cabinet.
