This bill should cause alarm for those who prefer to not "give their power away" to an authority that has no connection or knowledge of the individuals physical/mental/spiritual needs. It means if you feel that alternative therapies such as lifestyle, herbs, vitamins and food considerations are a better choice for you than pharmaceutical drugs and vaccines your doctors could be penalized by the government for not pushing pills onto you. "Any doctor that deviates from that plan would be penalized by the government. That means, for example, that a local doctor who knows the patient and his family, and who is aware of specific local circumstances affecting that patient will no longer be able to apply any of that knowledge in treating the patient. All treatments will be dictated from the government, obliterating the whole point of allowing doctors to operate with some degree of autonomy in the first place.

Effectively, this bill transforms the entire U.S. medical profession into nothing more than pill-pushing puppets. It wipes out the intelligence of a local doctor and replaces it with the stupidity of Big Government.

If the government says all expectant mothers must be screened for depression and put on antidepressant drugs, then all the doctors have to play along and do that if they don't want to be fined or have their medical licenses taken away. If the government says nutritional supplements are dangerous and cannot be recommended to patients, then all doctors must remain silent and avoid telling patients the truth about helpful nutritional supplements. Whatever the government dictates must now be mirrored by all practicing doctors. "

    • This open letter/petition to Obama just came into my mail box from Dr. Rima Laibow (see video above that mobius added if you do not know about her work and her cause). You will find the letter in full and a way to send it at the link above.
      This is an excerpt:
      "“The bill’s health rules will affect “every individual in the United States” (445, 454, 479). Your medical treatments will be tracked electronically by a federal system…. But the bill goes further. One new bureaucracy, the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, will monitor treatments to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost effective. The goal is to reduce costs and “guide” your doctor’s decisions (442, 446). These provisions in the stimulus bill are virtually identical to what Daschle prescribed in his 2008 book, “Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis.” According to Daschle, doctors have to give up autonomy and “learn to operate less like solo practitioners…”

      So what is an unprecedented grant of power over health care, by Congress, to the bureaucracy doing in an economic “stimulus” bill? And why does Congress think a new bureaucracy should make life-and-death health care choices for us?

      President Obama, this imposition of Medical Fascism on the People is NOT real Change. Sneaking it into the “Stimulus” bill is just plain old “politics as usual.”

      Please use your authority as President to make it clear that these new powers granted by Congress will not be used to restrict Healthcare Freedom of Choice.

      We PETITION you to clearly instruct the Federal agencies, including the FDA and other agencies involved in restriction healthcare freedom of choice to reverse all policies that restrict access to natural, alternative and complementary healthcare modalities.

      We request that you formally adopt the Definition of Health Freedom from Change.org and your Briefing Book, “Health Freedom means the right to control what happens to your body, choosing your own health path, making your own health choices as you see fit.” as the definition to be used by all Federal agencies.

      You need to regulate the regulators — we call upon you to instruct the bureaucracy to respect the rights of doctors and patients, to ensure that the United States fully respects the World Medical Association’s Declaration of Helsinki - http://www.wma.net/e/policy/pdf/17c.pdf - and does not impose on our Citizens restrictions against health care choice, especially when those choices involve nutrients and natural remedies.

    • paranoid twits. medical info will be stored online so that doctors can access your files in a timely manner. how many people do you think die every year because they are admitted to a hospital while on holiday and that hospital doesn't know they're allergic to penicillin, or whatever, and can't access their records in time to make a difference to save lives.

      as for the doctors being forced yada yada, ironic, they already do that. The CDC for example, tells doctors how to handle outbreaks and it's government enforced. the WHO does the same thing. Oddly, I'm pretty sure most Europeans have longer lifespans even without their "experimental treatments"...so I wonder how worthwhile they actually are. One of the big problems in American medicine is that doctors, pushed by pharmacy and technology companies, are always looking for the newer bigger better (more expensive) treatment.

    • Its a new one Mobius. I first heard of it yesterday when a friend of mine who is a health practitioner complained about it and said it was a dreadful act - and sadly, one of the first this new administration has passed. It was built into the $800 billion dollar stimulus plan. Then I saw a similar headline on Jeff Renses web site www.rense.com today (I hadn't been there for a very long time), so searched from there to see if there was other information to be found besides Rense's web site, and there was, which is how I found the article above.

    • Be afraid - Be very afraid if a bill like this passes. Our eroding privacy is our only personal security against incidents from identity theft to Big Brother just checking up on us. Given the vast & growing amount of computerized info that is now available to anyone able to gain access, how can we possibly feel we have any privacy left at all when virtually every transaction we make leaves an electronic trail?

      Call it what you want: conventional, traditional or allopathic medicine, now heavily dictated by Big Pharma, results in our MDs (Moron Doctors) having become outright dangerous & I urge everyone to reconsider homeopathic options before these time tested, ancient cures are prohibited.

    • Great post seajade. but I'm not surprised...This country is moving towards a more blatant form of fascism everyday....But people are so busy being working, and being entertained that they no time to stop, look, and listen.
