Convicts being "dehumanized"?!?!?! ALERT THE PRESS! Heavens, I hope none of these criminals suffer any discomfort as a result of their crimes!

I could care less about your rights lady, if you hadn't been driving while intoxicated you wouldn't have been in this situation. It's jail for a reason.

After the 5th woman steps forward I believe them and not the police, and I think a jury will do the same. The police have no excuse that is believable at this point. I hope to hear about the largest award ever in their law suit, and long prison sentences for each of the police involved. A Sheriff that looks the other way is as guilty as the rest of them.

There needs to be stricter standards within our law enforcement offices. I've known alot of unstable people who couldn't fit in other places in society so they became cops.

Not saying this about all police, but I do think the bar needs to be raised in terms of mental health.

They only way to fight this is that community needs to stand up against police brutality.

Crap. I just realized we were 25 (22 undergrad/25 grad). Sh*t. And it was SUCH a good story, too...rats...

If the allegations are proven true (people are innocent until proven guilty in this country...that is not just the way I was trained; that is what I truly believe -- HAVE to believe to stay sane some days...these guys need to do serious time. And prison is not a very pleasant place for those who are NOT former members of law enforcement.

The sad truth is that civil suits SHOULD be filed but any judgements (and the attorneys for both sides) will be paid for by the taxpayers. A real lose/lose/losers situation (even for the attorneys -- these kinds of cases generally pay crap per hour and most attorneys only take them because a juge ASSIGNS them to the case (do't feel sorry for them, but LA LAW it's not).

As a younger man (geez, here I go again) I thought this kind of thing only happened in movies, too. Then one of my best friends, fresh out of law school, was assigned to represent an indigent defendant in a drug conspiracy case. As the case progressed, it was determined that a couple of FBI agents were actually a part of the conspiracy and were having witnesses assassinated. I am not talking about NYC, here, I am talking about a small town in the middle of the mid-west with a population of around 50,000. My friend had a young wife and a baby son. He started getting death threats, warning him to drop out of the case. He couldn't even tell if it was the FBI or the drug cartel (or, hell, someone pulling a prank for all he knew -- although that last seemed unlikely based on the content of the calls). He stuck it out. At the end of the case, the judge decided that the total attorneys fees were just too much (there were something like 11 defendants, and the trial took nearly a year. So he just arbitrarily cut those fees in half for everybody. So my friend ended up making something like $8.15 per hour. Then his wife left him because the stress was just too much. We were 22, and we weren't in Kansas anymore...

Management always sets the mood for a corporation . The previous administration has set the mood for this . I have noticed it where I live .

hmm, everyone here seems to trust media as much as they distrust any civil authority. not saying it didnt happen, but suing for money? kinda skeezy in of itself. whos to say she not just trying to get herself some of that sweet sweet cash.

i thought shit like this only happened in the movies.

The sheriff in the video looks like a scum bag, you can just tell from looking at his face. He looks like a deviant.

Good for her to come forward and shed light on this type of crap. It's time to back our rights, and put "law enforcement" agency like this one out of business, for good.

All I can say if this kind of brutality was perpitrated on my love one there would be a price to be paid. You know if the cops wouldn't want something like this to happen to their love ones then maybe they should realize turn about is fair play.

IT APPEARS TO ME THAT THESE COPS ABUSE WOMEN THE SHERRIFF AND EVERY LAST ONE OF THESE COPS SHOULD BE FIRED AND PROSCUTED! NOW 5 WOMEN HAVE COME FORWARD! A CLASS ACTION SUIT IN THE MAKING NOT TO MENTION EACH WOMAN SUING SEPERATELY AS WELL! UNDER BUSH COPS THOUGHT THEY COULD GET AWAY WITH ANYTHING ITS TIME TO PROVE THEM WRONG!

The amount of stores like this one and worse yet the amount of stories where innocent people are killed has lead me to believe that we have an epidemic.

I will take me couple of days to get everything set up but I will set up forums and an advanced blog.

This type of project is not something I can do all on my own. So I am reaching for help from those who can.

I would like to use this project to not only report on new cases of police brutality but to track those cases to their conclusion.

So much has happened in the last year that we do not even hear about in the media. For example what ever happened with the case where that woman died in police custody at the Phoenix AZ airport?

The police count on these incidents going away.

I don't think we can continue to let them go away.

At the very least a strip search should be done by female officers if a female prisoner is involved. I hope the person who posted this follows up as I'm not 100% sure free money isn't being sought here.

Sue the sheriff's dept, sue the county, sue the state into the stone age. Completely bankrupt them. Its the only way that changes will be made to prevent future abuse.
