In an exclusive Current.com interview, Pharrell Williams breaks down the inspiration for his new online community, http://artst.com. It's not what you're thinking, unless you're making a mash-up of Madison Avenue and the Old Testament.

so the main reason we we're speaking with Pharrell is that we're working on a documentary about Common. it will be out soon. stay tuned.

I'm with MornRail - he's so damn creative!

There are so many sites that allow for people to post photos, videos, and writers can have their blog sites, but there aren't any sites that encapsulate so many art forms in one. Clothing, writings, sculptures, dance, design - the list goes on. He's genius!

It's fitting that N*E*R*D frontman Pharrel would give birth to a concept such as artst.com. His site is actin' like it has ADHD! ADHD!

I'm looking through the site and it's pretty interesting. It makes me wish that I had some kind of artistic talent.

Pharell is def the man. Although he needs to cut out the Saintly BS. Because unlike King Solomon who was just, Pharell is not. If you read the Terms of agreement on ARTST you will find just like facebook, pharell and ARTST plans to own your creative content. And use it for what ever purpose they so choose. When are these idiots realizing that that game is over. So if you are going to use Artst make sure to be smart enough to license your content on Creative Commons, first. Or go to another site that lets you promote you work for your benefit.
If you don't believe me here are snipits from the terms of service:
ARTST Guild & Gallery reserves complete title and full intellectual property rights in all Content.

Yeh, Pharell you have a phatt idea... I was kinda pumped about posting a video pod. we're working on something similar in the SF Bay Area, but our Artists retain their rights. it's more of a digital cooperative. The Bay vibe is way different from the Hollywood/ NYC industry. Its disappointing cause no artist want to surrender their intellectual property rights.
