Bullet Journey

I was filming when one single bullet hit his heart, terminating his life forever and changing the lives of all those who knew him.
I managed to capture some footage of his death and in this film I am trying to show the journey of a bullet and the effect it leaves behind. It is a film to humanize those who are being killed by bullets so they are not seen only as numbers.

The Palestinian / Israeli conflict is dragged out everywhere on a macro level of who is being righteous, but in this instance, I don't think any of that ideology is relevant. A young boy was killed for protesting the occupation of his hometown. Shot by a military force who recognized that he was just a stupid kid - a disgusting act in and of itself.
But even on that macro level - how does this kind of action keep Israel safe? Does military curfew and harsh enforcement such as the death of Haza discourage Hamas from building Qassam rockets? I believe it will only foster further anger against Israel.
Frankly, if I was an israeli citizen who was fearful of Qassams in my backyard, I would be appalled that this is the kind of action the military is taking place to try to protect me - its just like US military action in Pakistan - making 100 people angry for each civilian we kill, fostering more conflict in the long term for the benefit of no one.
Hopefully films like this will bring the stupidity of the war home and encourage people to think long and hard before they decide who deserves to be occupied.
Thanks for submitting.

Greetings, civilian curfews would be expected to be enforced by a civilian police force. This curfew is enforced by a military force. This makes it a military occupation. A military force should not be engaged in enforcing a curfew. A military force should not be engaging a non-armed civilian population. Those who say that it is expected that a stone throwing child is shot by a military unit are saying that they would shoot and kill a child throwing a stone at them in a civilian setting like New York or Washington. I wouldn't like to go before a court of law and defend myself on a murder charge with a defence of 'he provoked me by throwing a stone at my car so I shot him'. Think about it carefully this is what is known in Arabic as 'Hokm el aoui aal da3eef', 'the rule of the strong over the weak'. In this world, some experience it a great deal more than others.

I'm sorry you didn't like my answer... but I'm not an idiot... just sick of the Palestinians dragging the rest of the world into their conflict using terror.
While I feel for them, I also realize this land has been in bitter dispute for all of recorded history.
It's time to stop crying they victimes when they perpetuate the violence and refuse to negotiate....
That land is no more Palestine than it is Israel... It has always been home to nomadic tribes who took turns chasing each other off it. It has always been called both Israel and Palestine and I don't see why it has to be called one or the other... everyone on the planet knows what that land is and the human suffering it's brought upon all.

No sympathy from me until Arabs stop using children as weapons and stop hiding weapons and ammo in neighborhoods and mosques.
Until then, shoot away, Israel! Tired of Palestinians playing the victim when they bring much of the violence upon themselves and refuse to negotiate.
Maybe as their numbers dwindle, the Palestinians will be more willing to work toward a lasting peace.

Why do you hold the life of a palestinian child so dear?
The Palestinians don't. They use children as IED's. Those soldiers had no clue what that young ADULT was throwing.
Yes, at his age, he is capable of the choices an adult would make.. trying to prove his bravery, he threw something at a tank... feeling they would not act.
It was a tragically stupid mistake that cost him his life.
I bet the other Palestinian children learned it's a bad idea to throw things at tanks... maybe his sacrifice will teach others.

Throwing rocks at an military vehicle...the consequences are obviously going to end up to be something violent.
I feel sad for the boy but still,at least stay at a distance if your going to chuck stuff at a military vehicle, specially one that has just told you that you should go in your home for what ever reasons.
BTW there's a plate with weed in that car,if anyone else noticed it.

Now what have we learned from this? When the man with the heavy artillery tells you to scram, either leave or know what your getting yourself into. Those two little children made me sad because they're not physically capable of making sound judgment decisions.
I feel bad for this guy, Hazza. I know not if he was involved in resisting, but he wound up taking a bullet, and his life will be remembered by all around him.

The moment you'll stop treating the situation there as if it's a thing that you can avoid or choose not to attend to, you'll understand. Isn't like a movie that maybe you want to see, or maybe not ... it's everyday reality that can't be ignored.
What would you do if for example some punks decided to party everyday on your isolated property and nobody would care to help you?

if someone occupied your country and walled you off from civilisation, you would honestly do WHATEVER they said?
The people are making a statement. A rock can't hurt a tank, so why shoot them for it? - 11 months ago

To Cracanata: If law enforcement will not enforce the law, then I have the right to enforce the rules pertaining to protecting my property of course.
To Joe_Leo: Rocks hurt, and while it was aimed at the tank and not the soldier, that does not mean it could not be. From a tactical stand point, when projectiles start flying you don't back off and give people an incentive to continue flinging things, you neutralize them and bring those activities to a stop as soon as possible. In a tense military situation like that, this drastically increases the chances of bullets flying.
Also, if the people are pissed, then their leaders are doing a crap job representing them. Don't target the invaders when your country needs to be unified so that you can repel them. Don't bring a rock to a gun fight.

ok, if your going to through stuff at a tank you better be ready for the consequences. so as sad as someone dying is its hard to feel incredibly sad for him when he was basically asking for it.

Yeah, you can choose to think of it as just a rock but I'm going to choose to see it as persuasive writing. Its a four minute video in which you see one side to the story. I'm not going to be arrogant and choose sides when I have only seen 4 minutes and one side.
So go jump.
Anyway what good are you doing telling people how they should feel about video clips. Are you doing something significant to stop whats happening? have you gone out of your way to understand whats happening? Probably not, yet you feel targeting someone for thinking differently is a good thing. Ironic. - 11 months ago

Trettie - I agree whole-heartedly.
After being moved by so many of these stories, I studied the history clear back to the beginning of written history...
My conclusion is this... It's none of our business.
This land has been gained/lost in battle so many times that you can't really take sides.
As others have asked "what would you do if it WERE your country?" and there he nailed it. It's NOT our country... and we don't understand enough about their culture & heritage to be armchair quarterbacks.
So I think you nailed it as I'm not indifferent to loss of a human life... I'm just unwilling to be played by being shown only one side of the story.
