Exactly - in order to be politically saavy we need all the tools in our toolbox and to use them strategically. That includes both lobbying and civil disobedience

Go Josh Go!
Long live the Climate Action Coalition!
DrPhiloneous, I don't think one is more important than the other. The climate movements need to implement a diversity of tactics so we can inspire, challenge and move (sometimes remove) the powers that be on many levels.
We have strength in numbers and diversity. We should not let tactics devide us.

I wasn't able to make it to the action, but I was at Powershift and spent Monday on Capitol Hill. We talked to our representative, John Barrow from Georgia, who happens to be on the energy committee and will have a strong hand in writing the legislation we are all pushing for.
However, I was told by a fellow activist friend that the lobbying wasn't as important, seeing as people lobby all the time and that the most effective event of the day was the demonstration at the power plant.
So, I have a question for yall: is there anyone who thinks that one was more important than the other?
