The IAB has created a site, www.youronlinechoices. co.uk, to educate internet users about how to change privacy settings in their browser software and view sites’ privacy policies.

Behavioural advertising tracks users’ web surfing habits anonymously and uses that data to target advertising according to the interests of groups of consumers. Some companies, such as Phorm, another signatory to the IAB principles, aim to gather all browsing data through internet service providers such as BT.
