The Los Angeles Times is eliminating another 300 jobs, including 70 from the newsroom. And the latest cuts have claimed the California section, which now only runs on Sundays.

LA reporters are suing the parent company, Tribune, and its billionaire CEO, Sam Zell, over an $8 billion takeover that has jeopardized employees and landed the media giant in bankruptcy court.

Patrick Burke has the story from Los Angeles.

Great job, PCB. Love the birds. BTW - this is a very disturbing story.

Poor newspapers. I used to read the paper. It's been years. I get all I need from Time magazine and my cell phone internet link. Poor LA Times. But if the paper is inevitably doomed, how does one make the most out of dismantling it? That's proly the question on Zell's mind.

Very interesting piece! So much is happening to media these days, both how its consumed by the public and who's consolidating it. This video explained everything so clearly. Definitely news worthy and informative.

Great report- how sad that the newspaper industry has fallen into such a state. As an avid consumer of news, I would challenge anyone to try this: buy the actual paper, read it cover to cover, then log onto your "free" online version, you'll be shocked by how much you miss in the online version, and how much longer the "timesaving" online version takes to navigate...you get what you pay for.

I forgot to thank M.A.C. Machine of Big Digits fame, who was very generous with his time and effort. He was Key Grip for the Roderick shoot. Thanks Macciaswelldogs.
