    • I think the Trappists have probably the best idea. After one of their fellow monks die, the body is washed and dressed in a new habit. They take the monk's body, into the chaped for the Mass of Christian Burial, then he is wrapped in a white cotton shroud, and lowered into the grave, being placed on a bed of straw. The monks know better than anyone how to do it- some will place the body in a pine box, no lid- just the cotton shroud serving as the lid. Since the body is considered a "temple of the Holy Spirit" why load it up with all sorts of crap?? Not good for the earth at all....

    • Fancy funerals are a huuuuuuge waste of money. When I die I hope my family doesn't splurge tons of cash on a box that I'm just gonna decompose in. I would rather them take that money and buy themselves something nice...or purchase bottles of my favorite beer and pour them out over my grave and then have a big party.

    • i don't know how the romanians do funerals but you know who you're friends are when they'll show up for your funeral before you're even dead .

    • It sounds morbid, but I think that's kinda cool.
      It's celebrating someone's life instead of mourning their death. Everyone was pretty accepting of it.

      They should skip the 2nd funeral though.

    • What a waste of money... Even real funerals are a waste of money.

      Throw me on a pile of wood, ignite, enjoy a night of drinking and smoking round the bon-fire....

      Cheap and simple.

    • At the rehearsal itself - I wonder if there were a few people that were unaware it was a rehearsal, and whether he actually got into the coffin.. and then went 'boo'!

    • This is so incredibly bizarre. It's one thing to help plan it, but to make your relatives go through the whole thing twice is asking quite a lot.
