Doctor lied in 21 published studies that suggested after-surgery benefits from painkillers including Vioxx & Celebrex.
The journal Anesthesia & Analgesia retracted 10 of Dr Scott Reuben's studies last month. The journal Anesthesiology said it retracted three.
"Doctors have been using (his) findings very widely," said Dr. Steven Shafer, editor of Anesthesia and Analgesia. "His findings had a huge impact on the field."
Its not the first time the public has been lied to regarding drugs, as OxyContin makers Purdue Pharma were recently hit with a massive fine for "misleading the public" when it comes to how "addicting" Oxycontin is.
