I coveted Totally Hair Barbie, but only the brunette one - and I got her! THAT was a happy Christmas. If I remember correctly, I was nine.

I had ALL of these barbies... haha.
My parents loved spoiling me with toys when they probably should have saved it in a college fund :P

My lifelong notion that Barbie was, strictly, a ridiculous male fantasy and an extremely unrealistic anatomical ideal for young girls the world over has either been strongly reinforced or utterly destroyed.

You've done it again Ms. Haskins, I'm amazed! I had no idea there were so many different Barbies! Guess I should have spent more time out in the world instead of isolated with brown hair Ken in my pink Barbie townhouse with manual elevator.

Just got my "Then and Now" Barbie today. One more to add to the collection. Life is good!

I always love the "Target Women" segment, but this was terrific. The Barbie comercials were hilarious; they brought back so many memories. Everytime one would come up I would think "Oh, I had that one."

Omg, this made my life so much brighter today (especially needed while studying for finals). Sadly, I totally own most of those barbies too! (Except for Troll Barbie, can't say I ever saw that commercial.)

In high school I read some book about the history of Barbie, and I *believe* she was based on a German porn doll marketed toward men that an elderly American tourist lady really liked. So she's always been a "let's check under her skirt!" doll, is what I'm saying.

i used to play with barbie, and while i do see that she only reflects only one standard of beauty, i don't think she is the destruction of American women either.

I loved it! I could watch it over and over! I still have Barbies that are in boxes. My husband (Ken) says they're collectors items and won't let me touch them. This may sound strange but I have always identified with Barbie. Thanks Sarah....that was great fun!

Oh 80's hair Barbie, where art thou?

I admit I love Barbies, probably more than I did when I was a kid...I wish I had more. I have a couple of the Pregnant Barbies and now I want to go back and buy some of the awesome 90s era ones (I totally remember wanting Gymnast Barbie for her flexi limbs). Also whenever I see a hilariously ironic Barbie I have to buy it.

Oh and that Cut and Style Barbie was dangerous...I remember many a girl giving themselves bad haircuts because they didnt realize that their hair couldnt reattach.

I remember soooo many of these Barbies! Didn't have many of them, what a waste of money that would have been.

I would purchase a Sarah doll.
