Around 1,000 (rough estimate) mourners gathered in East Oakland, around the site of the slaying, to hold a vigil for the four police officers that were slayed in the weekend.
During the vigil mourners prayed, sang and wept for the fallen police officers. City and religious leaders also thanked the police force for protecting the city and urged the public to make a stand against violence in Oakland.
