kenny I didn't know that about Reagan..it is like the movie Who stole the electric car...truly frightening that our well being is sacrificed for the oil lobby.

It's more of a start than a repugnant president would ever due. For all the Reagan ass kissers out there, the first thing Ronald Reagan did when he came into power was take the solar panels off the roof of the white house. What things could have been done by now if that bastard had never been in office. And that was just the first thing he did in office think about what other crap he did and you can understand why I hate the rich man party.

Its not that big of an investment, especially considering how far reaching the potential is.

Thank You, Mr. B.H.!! Another excuse to try to make yourself look good, but at whose expense? It is programs like these that make me intensely distrustful of politicians....my tax money used for questionable purposes....You can take your electric car, Mr. B.H. and shove it.....

They should go with an electric freeway across the country, with sections that have charging rails so cars can charge while driving. And why not do it with railroads too? The tracks are already laid. They already run on electric engines anyways. If we made the freeways into slot car type tracks, less energy would be needed to carry many heavy batteries with you, (and wasting energy) It could be started as just one lane and we would be able to do a smooth transition, and allow others to keep their gasoline cars if they can afford them.

this is a good plan..but Obama has created way too many "billion/trillion dollar programs"...and sadly many of these programs involve more gov regulation

This is not an empty idea - there are returns to the US economy that means over 10 years there is a chance of getting ahead of the game - the US blamed its recession in the 70s on the oil shock - but was unable to see the long term effects of the distortion between their expectations and how OPEC regulated supply/demand. The war in Iraq cost such a fortune. A non-polluting vehicle that did not burn oil would do so very much to change macro economic state of the USA, in the real world.
