Why biomedical research IS important to Humans and Animals

I am in the minority when I try to comment on some posts regarding animals in research. I understand where people are coming from. I never thought I would work in biomedical research. The field is vast and opportunities are endless. I also have many pets of my own. My entire day is surrounded by animals. The argument asking if I would submit my animals to research is absurd. My animals (those who qualify) are in various studies. They go into the hospital in the morning and come home at night. I have some that are blood donors too. There feline urinary studies where people relinquish verses euthanizing, there cat that is peeing where it is not supposed to. Those cats were saved from being put down. Now I know there are other types of research that involve primates and various other animals and some research is "targeted" toward human benefits BUT, all research is beneficial.

I know this isn't news to anyone but I am simply trying to connect to others out there like me.

Please take the time to look into the link above. See some of the studies they have sponsored and think how this research has helped saved or extended the lives of one of your animals.

    • i think animal research is fine as long as it is humane and for medical research only, not for testing shampoo and other unnessesary comodities .

    • This is some light reading on the Animal Welfare Act.
What Al has posted are videos that are rare. I personally have never witnessed the cruelty he has displayed for everyone hear. I can not speak for everyone in research but I can speak up with my one voice.

The animal welfare act allows animals to be poisoned, given surgeries, given "stress", exsanguinated, imprisoned, given no pain killers, and so on.

      It's a joke.

Every time a pro-vivisection person uses the AWA as a defense for cruelty, they actually harm their position. The AWA allows people to harm, torture, and kill animals needlessly AND most animals used in research are not covered under it.

You say this on every thread. It doesn't matter if I started it, or someone else, or now even you. You keep posting, but demand to know when I am going to stop, as if I don't have the right and you do.

      Why is that?

    • Seriously AL, I get your point. You hate me and everything I do. I am just tired of seeing your propaganda. I am just trying to introduce new thoughts into the current community.

It's NOT ABOUT YOU! FOR THE HUNDREDTH TIME!

Although you continuously being UNABLE to realize it is about the ANIMALS is quite annoying. If you would read anything I post you would see the truth. Read this article: http://www.peh-med.com/content/4/1/2 Will you? Will you process the information?

I don't know you. I don't really care either way about you aside from you lying about animal research so animals can continue to suffer and die every day and you can clear your conscience.

This is about the animals that suffer and die every hour in this research AND THE HUMANS that suffer and die every hour because this research kills them or takes money away from research that could save them.

It's not about you or me aside from that. It never will be no matter how difficult you try to make it.

Exactly. When I responded about the ANIMALS, you responded about ME because you are unable to defend what you do to the ANIMALS without admitting your part in ANIMAL cruelty.

Please don't ask as if I have come on to your little thread and you, defenseless, have been attacked. You come on every animal research thread I have, every topic I start about activism, and bash the activists and myself. So, it's more than fair game that I at least speak out for the animals here is it not?

    • I knew you would respond.
Now I said I am trying to connect to others like me. And I'm pretty sure your not like me. Feel free to keep responding, you are just going to keep the post active.

Oh I'm sorry, does current belong to you?

I am not going to let you spread garbage about animal research helping humans so you can make yourself feel better when it is lies. I'm just offering some truth to your post.

    • If you would not volunteer your pets for animal research, why do you think it is ok for you to FORCE animals that are not your pets into animal research?

Why won't you allow your pets to be poisoned, kept in cages, given surgeries, and killed for research?

You know, since it's so good...
