This film explores the life of Liverpudlian kids who find themselves excluded from "straight" society. They spend their lives on the streets where they have developed own community. The Government call these kids Neets - Not in Education, Employment or Training. There are over one million Neets in Britain. These youths are emblematic of this social problem. This film is a portrait of a generation of wasted youth.

    They spent millions turning Liverpool into the biggest building-site in europe and let SOME of the outskirts rot. Of course there's very affluent areas of Liverpool (like all cities) but just walk fifteen minutes from the shining glass and steel of the new L1 shopping centre and you'll come across an area like this.

    Really, though, is liverpool any different from most of the major towns or cities in the UK? Manchester, Leeds, London, Glasgow, the list goes on. The only city I've come across that doesn't have a no-go area is York, but there probably is one known to the locals. Liverpool is only jumped on by the media because it's in the north, they have an agressive accent, and Thatcher sh@ all over us. Yes, that old chestnut, though it stands true today as it did in the eighties.

    Not a bad pod, although I think you could have thought a little harder about the title. Access is always an issue with projects like this, so I think you should be commended for getting the boys to contribute.

    Nonetheless, since Robbie was prepared to speak to you so candidly I would have liked to hear more of his opinion. He certainly told you like it was; but asking him why he thought things are the way they are around him would have gave us a greater insight into 'scallies' in Liverpool.

    a great pod highlighting the things that actualy go on after dark in deprived aareas. the kids need somehting productive o do, ts a shame there isnt a 'secret millionaire' lurking around he corner or an active government that wants to improve these NEETS - army boot camp i think! that tey they can legally use weapons!
