Phillippine authorities have rejected the demands for a troop pullout, requested by the Abu Sayyaf bandits, who are currently holding foreign Red Cross workers hostage in Manila.
Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro ignored the warning from Sen. Richard Gordon (pictured) about the threat of a possible beheading of hostages Eugenio Vagni from Italy and Swiss Andrea Notter, if the Abu Sayyaf bandits' demand for troops to leave the Jolo villages was rejected.
Teodoro stated that military forces would continue to cover the area and force the Abu Sayyaf to release more hostages, similiar to the release of hostage Mary Jean Lacaba on April 2.
Sen. Gordon is set to take quicker action by confirming a troop pullout. He continues to warn authority members that the Abu Sayyaf could execute the two remaining hostages if the military stays put.
Gordon said President Arroyo would be held responsible for the lives of the two hostages if she would not order the troops to withdraw.
